All-New 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Goes On Sale In Mexico

Shortly after announcing that the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and Cheyenne have gone on sale in Mexico, General Motors has confirmed that the all-new 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is now launching in the same market. With the all-new Sierra now on sale, GM has delivered on its previously-announced goal to launch the new GMC full-size pickup truck within the first quarter of 2019.

The all-new GMC Sierra is available in Mexico in three models: Sierra SLE Regular Cab, Sierra AT4 Crew Cab and Sierra Denali Crew Cab. The AT4 and Denali models represent the premium positioning of the 2019 Sierra, containing quality materials such as soft plastics and genuine wood or aluminum trim.

The new-generation Sierra represents a very noticeable evolution compared to the outgoing model. The new design delivers a bolder and more refined appearance with more personality thanks to the large grille and the new headlights with GMC’s signature C-shaped LED signatures. In addition, the new Sierra also has best-in-class cargo volume.

“For 116 years, GMC has stood out for being a brand focused on delivering its customers trucks and pickups with character, bold style, premium finishes and high performance, and that resist the most demanding tasks thanks to our high standard engineering, ingenious design and advanced technology, “said Francisco Garza, Vice President of Sales, Service and Marketing of GM Mexico, in a statement translated by GM Authority from Spanish. “In this way, we have built a portfolio with true Professional Grade, with vehicles ranging from our compact Terrain SUV, through Acadia, until Yukon and of course the powerful Sierra that today opens generation “, he finished.

Initially, the Mexico-market 2019 GMC Sierra will be offered only in AT4 and Denali versions. This is due to the fact that production of the Regular Cab variants of the new full-size pickups has not yet begun at the GM Silao plant, where the Sierra is produced for the Mexican market.

The Sierra AT4 model is new for the 2019 model year. It arrives to complement the range-topping Denali trim, but with an off-road angle. To accomplish that, the 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 features a two-inch factory suspension lift, 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, dark exterior accent pieces and red tow hooks. Meanwhile, the Sierra Denali maintains its luxurious character and high levels of equipment, including 22-inch wheels, an 8-inch digital instrument panel, wireless phone charger, Rear Camera Mirror, 360-degree camera and a heads-up display.

A GMC exclusive, the innovative new MultiPro tailgate has six different positions to facilitate access to the cargo area while increasing practicality.

Mechanically, the 2019 GMC Sierra will offer the following powertrain configurations in Mexico:

  • Sierra SLE: 5.3L V8 L82 engine making 355 horsepower mated to GM’s 6-speed automatic transmission

  1. I wonder if they boycott American made models?

    1. They have no reason to.

However, if a Mexican tequila company lost fair and square in the free market system, received much Mexican tax payer money to keep it alive, if that company then exported jobs and production elsewhere for cheap labor, then yeah, Mexicans would boycott it and rightfully so.

      It’s not rocket science.

  2. How can they offer these in Mexico when they can not build them for customers in the US? I was told it could be June of 19 before I see my AT4 ordered in January 2019. GM does not want to build cars anymore but it appears they no longer want to build trucks either!!

  3. I received my at4 in December and the local dealership sold two more on the lot. I don’t understand why the at4 isn’t available to you.
