Having shown you live photos of Chevy’s all-new 2020 Silverado Custom and LT 71, here’s another live photo gallery of Chevy’s big boy truck. This time around, the subject of this shoot is the 2020 Silverado HD LTZ.
The LTZ trim is positioned one level below the range-topping High Country in the 2020 Silverado HD lineup. This particular unit is the 2500HD coated in the Cajun Red Tintcoat color, which is available at an extra charge and is not available on Work Truck or Custom trim levels.

The exterior design of the Silverado HD LTZ takes the chrome theme of the LT model to the next level, featuring a bright grille surround and chrome-accented grille inserts, along with the flow-through CHEVROLET name. The grille on Silverado HD LTZ models would typically feature a small Bowtie emblem on the bottom end. But that model is replaced with the Z71 badge on this model, since this truck is so equipped.
The front bumper is finished in bright chrome. The headlamps feature LED reflectors for the primary lighting unit as well as LED daytime running lamps (DRLs). The front quarter panel wears the Z71 badge, which is in place of the 4×4 badge that’s used on models without the Z71 offroad package.
2500HD and 3500HD SRW models feature standard 18-inch aluminum wheels with 20-inch wheels available. 3500HD DRW has standard 17-inch steel wheels and 17-inch polished forged-aluminum wheels are available.
The 2020 Silverado HD LTZ rides on different wheels, depending on the model: 2500HD and 3500HD single rear wheel (SRW) models feature standard 18-inch aluminum wheels that are upgradeable to 20-inch units. 3500HD dual rear wheel (DRW/duallies) feature 17-inch steel wheels, with 17-inch polished forged-aluminum units available. This unit is wearing the six-spoke, 18-inch machined aluminum units with silver painted accents.
The new BedStep, an integrated step located at front of the rear wheel openings that improves access to the cargo area, is present and accounted for on all 2020 Silverado HD models – including this one. The door handles are chrome on the 2020 Silverado HD LTZ model. We also see the optional, factory-installed 6″ assist steps that are chrome and rectangular (RPO code BVQ).
The Z71 Off-Road and Protection Package, assigned RPO Code PDZ, includes the following content:
- Off-Road suspension with off-road tuned twin tube shocks (Z71)
- Hill Descent Control (JHD)
- Skid plates (transfer case and oil pan) (NZZ)
- Chevytec spray-on bedliner (CGN)
- All-weather Z71 floor liners (AAK, LPO)
- Z71 grille insert (replaces Bowtie emblem)
- Z71 fender badge (replaces “4X4” decal on bed)
Like in the front, the rear bumper is finished in bright chrome. The tailgate features the debossed Chevrolet script, along with a Silverado nameplate on the driver’s side and an LTZ nameplate on the passenger-side. The taillamps are LED-based, as is the Cargo Area Lighting that’s located in the pickup bed.
The new Silverado HD is offered with two engine choices: GM’s all-new 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline motor making an SAE-certified 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque mated to GM’s 6L90 6-speed automatic transmission. The celebrated 6.6L V8 L5P turbo-diesel Duramax mated to a 10-speed “Allison” transmission making 445 horses and 910 pound-feet of torque is an extra-cost option. This 2020 Silverado HD LTZ cradles the optional Duramax mill.
