2019 Corvette ZR1 Is An Automobile Magazine All-Star Contender

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 has been named a contender for Automobile Magazine’s ‘All-Stars’ list.

Automobile recently tested the 2019 Corvette ZR1 on-track at Willow Springs against a handful of other sports and supercars for its 2019 All-Stars list.

The publication said the 755 hp 2019 Corvette ZR1 “has plenty of admirable qualities,” the most notable of which was its 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 V8 engine, but it also appreciated its strong Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, sticky Michelin Super Sport Cup 2 tires and direct handling.

Other similar cars competing with the 2019 Corvette ZR1 in the Automobile All-Stars ranking include the Ferrari 812 Superfast, BMW M2 Competition, BMW M5, Porsche 911 GT2 RS and McLaren 600LT. Cars that don’t really compete with the ZR1 were also included in the group test, such as the Hyundai Veloster N, Nissan Altima, Volvo XC40 and Jaguar I-Pace.

The publication says the purpose of its annual All-Stars ranking is to determine the best new cars on sale in America. The All-Stars ranking is described as “wildly diverse,” and is meant to “represent the most aspirational, attainable, and otherwise exceptional offerings of the past calendar year.” A total of seven cars are included in the All-Stars list, and with a large number of vehicles included in the group test, Automobile’s editors will certainly have their work cut out for them.

The 2019 Automobile Magazine All-Stars will be revealed on Saturday, March 9 at 11 am EST. The publication will be slowly revealing the shortened ‘contenders’ list in the days leading up to the reveal, although it’s unclear if any other General Motors products were included in the group test. 1. Behold the last real Corvette. The blue collar super car that can run with any Euro snoot mobile.

This will change in a hurry with the upcoming mid engine price increase.

Serious bang for the buck is what Corvette is all about. The engine was in the right place; there was no problem in the performance department. The above mentioned BMWs and Ferrari also have the engine in front last time I looked, but then what do they know about performance?

It’ll be like the Ford GT, which I have yet to see in person. Cars belong on the road, not on magazine covers.

    1. A foolish man once said, The last would be C8!
The last blue collar super car. The last one to be great.
Perhaps a little patience sir, instead of baseless hate.
A price increase is sure to come, but we don’t yet know the rate.
Performance will be better with the engine in the rear.
If you don’t wan’t a better Chevy, mate,
Then why are you even here?

      1. LOOK AT ME. I’M SOOO FANCY WITH MY WORDS THAT I CAN WRITE POEMS, BUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF CARS IS CRAP. MAGIRUS PROPERLY STATED THE THIS IS MID ENGINE CORVETTE AND NOT REAR ENGINE, YOU LOSER. GO BACK TO YOUR POET SOCIETY SITES AND STAY AWAY FROM CAR WEBSITES.

        1. Woah! Take a chill pill man!
The C8 is actually closer to the original plan.
Zora wanted the Corvette mid-engined right from the start.
But he could get approval because management didn’t have the heart.

60 years can woosh by so fast.
The engineering is better. The quality, top notch. Each generation out-doing the last.
Zora never got his original vision to come to into being.
But now the C8 will be what Corvette should have ALWAYS been.

The front-engine is compromise of design and engineering done on the cheap.
The balance was off. Getting to hook can be difficult. The fiberglass still creaks.
The Y-body chassis alone is already 35 years behind.
There’s no better reason to start anew and do it right this time!

Tax brackets and shifting demographics. Dude, that comes with time.
          Get over it.
          Stop worrying.
The Corvette was NEVER a blue-collar reward for workers on the line.

There’s noting wrong with putting the Corvette high up on the shelf, man.
The car needs to earn it’s price. It needs clout. It needs to make demand.
You can’t get top dollar if you insist on aiming for a lower price.

So the Corvette can either die like the Viper by being a salute to the past.
or it can step up to the plate
          show the world its best
and show what it means to have a legacy, unsurpassed.

      2. I’m an involuntary investor in the company who is taking issue with some decisions and how the funds are being managed, that is my reason for being here.

Corvette buyers are a different tax bracket than R8 drivers, and with the technology they are talking, the C8 will probably be closer to R8 price than the C7, and alienate many traditional customers while maybe gaining a few non traditional ones; I don’t predict R8 owners breaking down doors at Chevrolet dealerships to trade. Remember what happened to the Viper, it was too hardcore, and died after substantial price hike.

Corvette up to C7 also has been one of the few sports cars you could call a legitimate daily driver with a straight face. Barely slower than a Viper but made so much more sense in every other way. That is what is being taken away.

  2. Chevrolet’s 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 Convertible that might have value as a true collector’s item as it has it all.. 755 hp LT5 supercharged V8, manual transmission and a convertible top.
