About Cadillac XT6
The Cadillac XT6 is a three-row premium luxury crossover. The model represents a new addition to the Cadillac model range as part of the brand's crossover expansion strategy. It slots above the the compact Cadillac XT4 and midsize Cadillac XT5 in the Cadillac crossover SUV lineup. Its size classification can be best described as "midsize plus", as it is bigger than midsize but not big enough to be classified as full-size.
The XT6 was announced at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in January 2019 and goes on sale in the spring of the 2019 calendar year as a 2020 model. It is based on the regular-length variant of the GM C1 platform shared with the XT5, but with more rear overhang than the XT5. That extended rear overhang enables it to accommodate a third row. The rest of the vehicle is very similar to the XT5, including its engine, transmission, and cockpit.
The XT5 is produced at the following GM plants globally:
- GM Spring Hill factory in Tennessee or GM Lansing Delta plant operated by GM USA supplying North American markets
- Cadillac China Jinqiao factory operated by Shanghai-GM supplying the Chinese market

You guys forgot Enclave
It’s identical in size to the Traverse… so need to include it. One long-wheelbase C1 vehicle is enough for our comparison.
I thought the interior dimensions were different. Less 3rd and maybe 2nd row room in the Buick.
Torque curves for the V6 and new 2.0 would be nice to see.
Live to dream.. a Cadillac XT6 with even a naturally aspirated Blackwing V8 would be something as it would give the XT6 something different than almost all CUV and SUV built by General Motors that currently all have the LGX 3.6L DOHC-4v V6 as an option or is standard equipment.
Warmed over 3.6 liter crap. Caddy had a chance to set the bar with 400+ hp turbo from ATS V or CT6 and they blew it. Someone needs to be fired for moronic execution.
Goodbye GM, Hellooooo Lexus.
Oh puh-lease. The alternative from Lexus is the RX350L… a hack-job of a vehicle rushed to market to quickly satisfy demand for a three-row crossover below the $50,000 range and to shut up dealers begging for such a vehicle. And it doesn’t take a genius to know that the XT6 is a better proposition than the RX.
Cadillac knows exactly what they’re doing with this offering. It’s not exciting and it’s not earth-shattering… but it is certainly attractive and hits right at the heart at the target demographic.
Mark my words: this thing will be a runaway commercial success, while enthusiasts complain that it’s not something else they wanted it to be.
Who are these people? LOL.. Amazing. To put forth the idea of leaving Cadillac to go to Lexus, because of the 3.6L is laughable and ridiculous. I won’t even get into the fact that the 3.5L in the Lexus is not even touching 300HP anymore in the RX… but the driving dynamics of the RX versus even the larger Enclave would kill it for me.. that’s without me having to look at that hideous face.
That being said.. a TTV6 would certainly be a welcome option, but my truest desire would be for Cadillac to go away from NA engines altogether if for no other reason than to distinguish them from the other GM offerings. This isn’t a tall order considering they have the 2.0LT, 3.0LT, and upcoming 4.2LT. I’d dwindle that engine line up down to those 3, with tuning determined by application
I like it. It might not be rwd or twin turbo, but the people this is targeted for dont care about those things. If you want performance in a Cadillac, go for a sedan. Suvs are what GM does best , and this should do well…….i hope.
From my experience with driving the Acadia, this is a great platform that oozes handling and refinement.
This will do awesome and it is what the market wants.
I’m not sure handling that oozes is a compliment, but it’s good to hear you like the Acadia.
I would buy this over a Lexus RC350L without hesitation.
There may be plenty of power for most uses, but what happens when you’re carrying 6-7 people or 5 and their luggage up hills?
“but what happens when you’re carrying 6-7 people or 5 and their luggage up hills?”
It goes up the hills, like you would expect it.
EV’s are not heavily modified lead-acid golf carts. It’s unwise to think of them as perpetually underpowered.
Since the muscle car days and the current three pony cars on the market, an engine has not sold any vehicles unless you have to tow with a truck or SUV. Look at Honda, Toyota, Hyundai. They sell millions of vehicles and mostly have boring engines. A 3.5 or 3.6 V6 designes are very common and all are quite good. Usually 275-305HP non turbo is the range and is more than enough.
I just saw the new 2020 GMC Acadia and it seems to me that it is similar to the the Cadillac XT6 and Chevrolet Blazer in terms of dimensions and power train. Am I right? Then, I ask why is there no Buick equivalent? I was pretty certain that I was going to buy a Blazer, but the new Acadia seems to have a more upscale interior with what I expect will be less than or equal to a similar pricing structure.
The GMC and Chevy offer a 4 cylinder.
I think we will see a Buick on the 112.5″ wheelbase, possibly to replace the poor selling and smaller Envision, whose wheelbase is 11″ shorter than the Enclave’s. It it’s in addition to Envision, it will be 3 row.
I wouldn’t buy the Blazer because of the narrow greenhouse, and I don’t like the butched-up new front on the Acadia. That’s why I think there’s room for a dainty, curvy Buick that’s cheaper than the Cadillacs.
Identical wheelbase, front and rear track as Blazer.
why didn’t they make it towable behind motorhome?
