Chevrolet Discounts Equinox By $3,500 In February 2019

Chevrolet Equinox sales increased 26 percent to 98,239 units in the fourth quarter of 2018. The increase is not surprising considering the current market trends that strongly favor SUVs and crossovers. So in what is very likely a way to remain competitive in the highly-competitive and rapidly-growing compact crossover SUV segment, a new Chevrolet discount reduces the price of most 2019 Equinox models by $3,500 for current owners and lessees of GM vehicles.

Incentives

Nationwide Chevrolet discounts on the Equinox for February 2019 are as follows:

  • 2018 Equinox excluding L models: $750 customer cash + $1,000 purchase bonus cash = $1,750 total cash allowance
  • 2019 Equinox: $3,500 total cash allowance for current GM owners on select models in stock when financing with GM Financial
  • 2019 Equinox: 0 percent APR for 60 months
  • 2019 Equinox excluding L models: $1,000 downpayment assistance + $1,000 purchase bonus cash = $2,500 total cash allowance

To clarify, the $3,500 discount for 2019 models is only available for current GM owners, and the $1,750 and $2,500 offers are not applicable to L models.

For reference, here are the applicable 2018 and 2019 Equinox trim levels and their corresponding starting MSRPs:

2019 Equinox:

  • L – $24,995
  • LS – $27,095
  • LT – $28,395
  • Premier – $32,295

2018 Equinox:

  • L – $24,575
  • LS – $26,595
  • LT – $27,795
  • Premier – $31,795

When applied to a 2019 Equinox LT with an MSRP of $28,095, the $3,500 Chevrolet discount brings the starting price to just $24,595, which is even more affordable than an L model. Meanwhile, the $1,750 Chevrolet discount brings the starting price of the 2018 Equinox LS to $24,845.

About Chevrolet Equinox

The Chevrolet Equinox is a compact crossover. It slots above the Chevrolet Trax and below the Chevrolet Traverse. It will also be positioned below the rumored to be the future Chevrolet Blazer. The first-generation Equinox ran from the 2005-2009 model years and was based on the first-generation Theta platform. The second-generation Equinox was offered from the 2010-2017 model years and was based on the Theta 2 platform. Both the first- and second-generation models were "tweeners", in that they straddled the compact and midsize CUV segments in size. The third-generation model was introduced for the 2018 model year. It rides on the GM D2 platform shared with the second-generation GMC Terrain, Chevrolet Cruze, and Chevrolet Volt and, unlike its two predecessors, is positioned squarely in the compact segment.

The third-generation, 2018 and newer Equinox features an all-new exterior and interior, while being slightly smaller inside and out compared to the outgoing model. It also offers an all-new engine lineup and an all-new lightweight architecture that enables a weight savings of over 400 pounds compared to the second-gen model. As a result, the new Equinox gets better fuel economy while also delivering improvements in ride, handling, packaging, and safety.

  1. Reality, ALL crossovers are booming so this vehicle is riding the market wave. Yes, it increased in sales but that has a lot to do with going into the winter season when crossovers and SUV sales always increase. The fact they are discounting the vehicle is because they know sales are going to slow dramatically as we head into summer and the competition has even better models coming out. You dont discount vehicle if it is predicted to have strong sales and brand value.

Would be interesting to see where those increased sales came from last quarter. I bet a lot were fleet, rental, and via dealer discounts. It is a decent vehicle but not overwhelmingly amazing or leading.

  2. I’d like to see GM add some sports trim to the Equinox.

Maybe some moderate wheel flares with the larger rim and tire package.

The Equinox is a very good, well engineered vehicle.

    1. They need to drop the lackluster 1.5 turbo, make the 2.0 turbo standard and add one V6 engine.

  3. I would like GM to add some performance to it’s current CUV’s and some Soft Off-Roading Cred as well.
But I will always complain about the awful materials GM is placing in its Car interiors. They must do better. I mean Mazda which is a tiny Car Company pretty much shames GM in interiors. How is that even possible. And I am not only speaking of Chevrolet.

  4. Guys you need to update your “About the Equinox” standard spiel, the Blazer isn’t a rumour anymore lol.

  5. Live to dream.. instead of dropping the price offer more performance by making the LTG 2.0L DOHC-4v 4-cyl turbo available as an engine option for the Equinox.

    1. GM needs to offer the new 2.0L Turbo engine from the XT4 in its other offerings as most buyers will not consider a vehicle that needs 91 octane fuel due to extra cost.
Also, the interior materials need an upgrade, along with fixing the super cheap looking screen surround (7” models) on lower trims.

  6. It’s a strong seller for Chevrolet. It’s the right size and the right price. It’s a rocket with the upgraded 2.0L turbo engine.

It would need an updated interior and a disable switch for the start/stop system for me to consider one though.

  7. Take the GM Financing for the $1500 credit and either have payoff cash available or bank financing available to immediately pay off the very high interest rate loan. I was given a 7.29% rate with a Fico score in the 830’s and I was told that the rates go up from there. Loans can be paid off the next day. Don’t listen to the dealer. Don’t wait to be contacted by GM Financial, they will collect three months of pure interest before they tell you about a payment. Call then on the phone and demand that your account be set up so you can pay it off.
