The GM Authority Take

Those 7,573 XT4 sales are actually quite impressive given that availability of the XT4 was limited during the first half of the fourth quarter.

Going forward, we expect XT4 sales volume to be notably higher during the first quarter of 2019, as both availability and awareness improve compared to Q4. In addition, XT4 sales should increase even more as more global markets – notably South Korea and Russia – see their regional launches of the small, luxury crossover SUV.

About The Numbers

  • All percent change figures compared to Cadillac XT4 Q4 2017 sales
  • In the United States, there were 77 selling days in Q4 2018 and 76 selling days in Q4 2017

  1. I’ll be honest, the little bugger is growing on me.

    1. I love the looks. If it had a bigger engine I’d look really hard at it.

      1. Same! If the XT4 had an option for something like the 3.6 L V6 engine, I would definitely consider this vehicle my next car.

    2. Best part, it is made in the U.S.A. for the American market. The Chinese market gets the Chinese-made one.

And that is the way it should be. Make it in American for Americans supporting American jobs and communities. Period.

      1. Couldn’t agree more.

Great to see all the new plants coming back into the U.S. and plant investments. GM really angered Americans and Canadians with the massive worker firings. Noticed Machete Mary is a lot more careful about her words and actions these days. And so she should be.

  2. The XT6 will have similar success. Yes, I’m in the performance camp but you can’t down vehicles like this that pay bills. IMO a if I had to get one I’d wait for the 300hp 2.0 V-Sport

  3. It would be in our garage as we speak, but not the 2.0T. Maybe we will buy a midsized Caddy SUV again some day, but we will never buy one with standard Chevy HP. I don’t care if they share “platforms” but a Cadillac needs a 50 to 100 HP more “standard”. If you call it a V-sport or performance, it should be sportier or higher performing.

    1. I think this Powertrain is perfectly matched with the size f vehicle. I am glad that the new engine is tuned to 87 octane, which makes buying this vehicle much more realistic.

      1. I like the 87 tune also. So if you own one, and it sounds like you mite, or your a GM team member. If you buy this Cadillac, and go on a road trip with 4 – 200+ pound persons, full luggage of another 500 lb+, so a total of 1300 lbs+. Does this drive and handle like a I think a Cadillac should ? Or a dog Chevrolet 2.0T. Because if I’m spending that kind of money on this thing it doesn’t cut it for me. OK driving if just my wife and I bobbing here and there, but not a worthy Cadillac edgy vehicle. I have test driven one, its OK low end torque where you need it. Drive it up an incline, fully loaded in the heat of the summer on the interstate it seems to me it will be working, hard !!

Good luck Cadillac, I’m rooting for you, after owning five and still three, you just don’t have anything new for me yet.

        1. To give Cadillac credit where its due, this is a All New Engine designed for the Cadillac XT4. It is also on par or better than its rivals in this class.

  4. I would like to see an XT4-V (AWD) with the Blackwing 4.2L DOHC TT LTA V8, 550 HP/627 lb-ft!
    We need more V-Series!

    Reply
    1. Ya, that will never happen, nor should it. That engine will only fit in a rear drive platform as GM goes forward.

  5. Ok Dale, well I would still like to see an XT4-V (AWD)!
    We need more V-Series!

    1. I know that there is an appetite for that, but GM is simplifying the manufacturing process for smaller volume units.

  6. We need more V-Series in the form of V’s and or V-Sports!

  7. More horsepower and better braking.

  8. I would like to see a breakdown of trim levels sold.

  9. Where are all of the people who said this cuv was crap and it wouldn’t sale?

  10. I don’t recall that there was a whole lot of people that thought it was crap ??️?

    Reply
    1. Plenty of people didn’t like and thought it was a failure

      Reply
  11. Define Plenty? Have you taken a test drive in the vehicle?

    Reply
    1. Yes I have! And I was very impressed! How about you?

  12. First off how do we call it a success or failure? Does anyone know how it compares to the competition in sales ? NO. First are we going to call it a success in USA or China ? With GM releasing sales numbers every quarter it will be a while before they call it a success.

And just for the record I for one never called it or any other Cadillac a failure. I just said I would not buy one with the 2.0T.
I like the XT6 but will never buy one with a 3.6.
We are waiting for the CT5 before we purchase anything, and if it is a 2.0T we will not buy that either.
Also we will not buy a “V”, we simply do not want a race car.

We want a Cadillac. The TOP GM brand, TOP!!
A GM vehicle that is 10 – 20 % better than Chevrolet in every way.
    A Cadillac.

Again I wish GM and Cadillac the best but we will not buy another Chevrolet with different headlights and taillights.

    1. Actually GM designed this to be different from the Encore/Trax and Equinox/Terrain. GM specifically put in a premium 5 link independent rear suspension so it would handle and ride better than the previously mentioned rides. It is also roomier than many CUVs in its class. It is a great premium entry level product.

      1. I am aware of all the sales tools.
But again sorry just not enough.

I never once though any of our GM vehicles handled poorly.. Sure driving our stock 68 Camaro I wish it handled like our ATS.

But I can say for a FACT that I have found myself ALOT wishing I had an extra little kick.

    2. But you will buy a Lexus infiniti BMW Benz that is a lower tier car with different headlights!

See you people are hypocrites! You kill Cadillac for doing what every other manufacturer does! It’s like the standards only apply to GM and not the rest of the world!
