2019 Cadillac XT5 Sport Package Harmonizes The Crossover Lineup

The 2019 Chicago Auto Show played host to a new Cadillac XT5 variant. The brand introduced the 2019 Cadillac XT5 Sport Package, a limited-edition model that incorporates cues from other Sport variants in the Cadillac crossover lineup.

The 2019 Cadillac XT5 Sport Package joins the XT4 and XT6, which both offer Sport trims of their own.

“[The package] gives our best-selling XT5 a dark, aggressive appearance and expands customer choices within our successful crossover portfolio,” Cadillac President Steve Carlisle said.

The Sport Package includes a gloss black grille with a Galvano surround, LED headlights with cornering function, and the signature clear taillight lenses we’ve seen on both the XT4 and XT6. The mid-size crossover also gains side-assist steps, 20-inch aluminum wheels finished in Technical Gray, and sport pedals inside. Buyers can choose either a Cirrus/Jet Black interior or full Jet Black. Both come with Diamond Cut aluminum trim.

Buyers will be able to opt for the package on both Luxury and Premium trims. Thus, the crossover gains all of the options for either trim. They include an 8-inch infotainment screen, Bose premium audio system, heated seats (ventilated as well on Premium Luxury trims), heated steering wheel and a power liftgate.

Power remains standard from regular XT5 models with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 310 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic handles shifting duties.

Pricing for the limited-edition package starts at $1,995 on the Premium Luxury trim model and $2,995 on the Luxury trim. Order books for the latest addition to the Cadillac crossover lineup will open this spring.

  1. If only this added the 3.0TT found in the XTS V-Sport (among other vehicles, but that is a FWD application…on the Epsilon Platform, which C1XX is an evolution of)…

    1. 3.6L TT you mean.

      1. Yeah, only the 3.6TT was adopted for FWD/AWD vehicles. But, the 3.0tt should be in every Cadillac as an option.

  4. I don’t like that they use clear lenses on the sport models. The clear lenses make it look like a hybrid and contrasts too much with the black accents. Use red lenses for sport models, clear for the Premium ones to match the chrome trim. Come on, Caddy…

    1. XT4 Sport comes with clear lenses. Red for XT4 Luxury and Premium Luxury.

  7. You would think by now Cadillac would have figured out if people want sport they want more power.

  8. Being that GM CEO wants to electrify the fleet.. another thought that comes to mind is that the addition of a sport model could feature a Cadillac XT5 using a Chevy Volt architecture with a 500 hp electric motor to provide all the performance needed and when the battery is almost exhausted.. a 1.5L 4-cyl engine kicks in to recharge the XT5’s battery that is designed for 300 mile range.

  11. This so-called Sport Package should be called “Sport Appearance Package” Edition. A true Sport Package in most people’s minds meaning upgraded performance like more torque/horsepower combo, advance braking system, tidier steering feel, firmer dailed-in suspension, structure enhancements & sport appearance enhancements for the exterior and interior.

Not sure if the assist steps would be needed except for small frame individuals that need something extra to step inside the vehicle with ease. However, it could enhance the look from the side view.
