The internet is full of pristine, rare muscle cars with numbers-matching engines and illustrious ownership histories that sell for way too much money. This Rally Green 1968 Chevrolet Camaro isn’t one of them, we’re happy to report, and may actually for a sum that us mere mortals could feasibly afford.
This 1968 Camaro Z/28, recently listed for sale on Bring-A-Trailer, comes with a certificate of authenticity and a clean title. It has a 302 cu. in. V8 that was installed in the car as a service replacement early in the car’s life, according to the listing, which is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It’s not clear if the transmission is a numbers matching original, but we imagine the seller would have mentioned that if it was. It also has the Positraction rear end with 3.73 gears.
Other notable factory equipment on this car includes the well-known Camaro Rallye wheels, a 6,000 RPM tach, a center console with auxiliary gauges and front disc brakes. The Rally Green color is original to the car, however it has undergone a recent repaint. The white racing stripes are not original and were added recently as well.
The listing indicates this car is for sale by a dealer in Connecticut “with a Protect-O-Plate, an owner’s manual, a certificate of authenticity from Jerry MacNeish, and a clean Illinois title.” With four days left in the auction, bidding currently sits at $26,000 as of this writing. The average going rate of a 1968 Camaro Z/28 is $43,000, according to Hagerty, so the winner of this bidding war might get a decent deal.
