It’s not every day that you see an old-school Chevy Woody Wagon, let alone one that is actually for sale. But today may be your lucky day, since we came across this 1948 Chevy Special Deluxe Woody Station Wagon project car on eBay.
The auction includes an original Chevy Woody Wagon, a Chevy four-door sedan, and an additional chassis. Also included are several wooden body parts – four doors with window and door latch mechanisms, hinges, original glass, roof cross members, rear quarter panel styles, fender trims, working hood, and more.
The package contains three rolling chassis, as follows:
- The first is the Red 1948 Woody Wagon that has been in dry storage for more than 45 years. This vehicle contains all four doors with window and door latch mechanisms, hinges, roof cross members, rear quarter panel styles, fender trims, some original glass, and other miscellaneous pieces.
- The second is a 1948 Chevrolet four-door sedan with an excellent body that has no rust in the floors. This sedan is sitting on a completely restored chassis with a frame that has been stripped and painted. All the trim and moldings are present. The only thing missing are the seats.
- Lastly, there is a second Woody cowl and chassis (the one in green) that includes some wood pieces that are not present on the other two chassis. This package also includes materials that can be used to make repairs to the floor panels and other items.
If it matters, the primary 1948 Chevrolet Woody Wagon has a clean title and is in excellent condition with no rust and zero miles on the 235 cubic inch 6-cylinder engine and its transmission. The previous owner had paid over $9,000 in labor and parts for the chassis restoration alone, then had body work on the trims and moldings done as well.
The seller reduced the asking price by $1,000 to just $8,500 on February 11th and lowered it again on February 12th to $7,995. This was done in an effort to offset some of the cost to ship the three vehicles
Given that the chassis has been completely restored, this interesting find is quite the bargain: most Chevrolet Woody Wagon projects sell for thousands more without all the extra chassis and with far fewer parts.
When all is said and done, someone will have quite the artful piece of rolling Chevy history when this project is complete. But the auction only has a few hours remaining – so rush on over to eBay if you’re interested.
