Advancements in automotive design and engineering have made once supercar levels of performance available to the everyman. It’s cheaper than ever to climb into a car—new or used—and have enough power on tap to send the rear end swinging and the tires smoking. While new cars may have more horsepower than their predecessors, being able to experience that power and performance is dangerous on the open road. It’s much safer to head to the local race track and experience the thrill of a driving a performance car than to weave in and out of Monday morning commuter traffic.
That’s why track events like the Corvette Experience at the National Corvette Museum exist—to give adrenaline junkies the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a C7 Chevrolet Corvette in a controlled environment.Â
This year’s NCM Corvette Experience event will give attendees the opportunity to drive a Corvette while learning some tips and tricks of the track, too. The session begins with some time spent in the classroom, providing the drivers with the dos and don’ts of the track. Drivers will also learn the basics of how to drive the car. After that, drivers get to do a low-speed follow-the-leader session on the 3.2-mile track that makes up the NCM Motorsports Park. Then it’s back into the classroom for more instruction. The day culminates in three 20 minutes session in a Corvette on the track alone.Â
Attendees get more than just some time at the track. Lunch is provided, and there’s a tour of the museum available. Lunch and helmets are provided. Registration for the event is now open Class is limited to just 16 people, and people are already booking sports for the earlier sessions. The NCM Corvette Experience dates are: Â
