On episode 98 of Motor Trend’s ‘Head 2 Head’ series, we see a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE and a 2018 Ford Mustang GT battle it out in a desert drag race. So which pony car will come out on top and be crowned ‘king of the dry lake dragsters’? You will have to subscribe to Motor Trend On Demand to watch the full episode, but check out the trailer above for a little sneak peek.
Jonny Lieberman takes the Chevrolet and Jethro Bovingdon has the Ford. As a side note, the teaser clip does make it seem as though the Ford Mustang beats the Chevrolet Camaro with flying colors. That’s not the case, though. While the Mustang GT did win against Camaro SS 1LE in a one-mile drag race, it did not come in first for all tests on the dry lake bed. It did, however, also reign victorious in the burnout competition.
When it came to handling in round 3, the Chevy Camaro easily came out on top with its “impressive” reaction speed and the overall acceleration. Round 4 saw pro race car driver Randy Pobst drive with just one hand and proved that the Camaro SS 1LE has a faster lap time than the Mustang GT.
As the never-ending fight continues between these two rival pony cars, which one will be the ultimate winner? Will we ever know?
Stay tuned to GM Authority for more Camaro news.

Isn’t this super old?
Why no photos of the Mustang? Pretty lousy article. Oh the mustang did spank the camaro in a drag race. That was the challenge, not a road course.
