Certain cars have a rabid, often cult-like following. They’re classics. They often have storied histories filled with iconic titans of industry and legendary race car drivers. Most automakers have one icon in the stables, but Chevrolet has two—the Chevrolet Corvette and Chevrolet Camaro. For General Motors, the Corvette and Camaro have ushered in legions of owners and fans, and they like to get together. One go-to gathering is Bloomington Gold; however, since its inception, the event has been exclusive to Corvette owners. But that’s changing. For the 2019 event, Chevrolet Camaro owners will be able to join their Corvette brethren.Â
“Not only do a lot of our customers have Camaros in their garage, [the Camaro] is a nice stepping stone before entering the Corvette hobby,” said Guy Larsen, Bloomington Gold Owner and President. “Why not share the fun that so many Corvette owners are having at Bloomington Gold with owners of another Chevrolet vehicle with the same need for speed?”
Chevrolet Camaro owners who attend will be able to participate in many of the same events as Corvette owners. Activities available to both include driving laps on the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway track and partaking in the road tour. There will be vendors catering to Camaro owners, too. One thing missing for Camaro owners is Bloomington Gold’s Certification of the model. It’s a feature that may come in the future.Â
“After sharing the idea with a number of our sponsors, customers, and key Camaro players at GM, we decided now is the time to move forward with the addition,” Larsen added.
Adding the Chevrolet Camaro to the show will only grow the already massive event. Right now, more than 30,000 people attend yearly for the three-day event. This year’s show takes place June 20-22 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Tickets are on sale now.Â
