We try to refrain from making fun of things that other people like. While we may not all have the same tastes and preferences, it’s important to let people enjoy what they enjoy and just focus on yourself. When it comes to cars, though, there are some creations we can’t help but critique.
The odd mashup you see here was sent in to us a by a reader without much information provided. We’re not sure what its origins are, but we did find an archived Pinterest post that indicates it’s a cross between a 2001 4×4 V6 Dodge Dakota and a ’57 Chevy Bel Air. The front and rear fascias look to be lookalikes and not actually taken from a Bel Air, although it’s hard to say with the Dakota body throwing the proportions off.
We’re unsure what compels someone to spend money building such a thing. Could they not decide between a Dakota and a ’57 Chevy? Did they just have a dilapidated Bel Air sitting around and decided to use some spare parts to spruce up their pickup? We have questions.
As absurd as this ’57 Chevy/Dodge Dakota mashup is, we have to say, it’s fairly well executed. Whoever did this looks to have had some experience with auto body work, but we can’t help but think their talents could have been better used elsewhere. There’s lots of different people in this world, though, and for someone out there, this is their dream vehicle.
