Cadillac’s all-new XT6 made its public debut on January 12th, 2019 – one day prior to the media days of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The stock photos provided by Cadillac didn’t necessarily convey the various intricacies of the new three-row crossover’s design, so having brought you a detailed look at the XT6 in Premium Luxury trimmings, we are now showing you a live photo gallery of the 2020 Cadillac XT6 Sport.
The XT6 is the third vehicle in Cadillac’s lineup (after the 2019 CT6 and XT4) to follow the brand’s new Y trim level strategy. Cadillac has so far announced that the XT6 will be available in Premium Luxury and Sport models. The Sport trim offers a more aggressive appearance as well as a sportier ride and handling, while the Premium Luxury model features more elegant body trim with a focus on softer ride characteristics.
On the outside, the XT6 Sport features a trim-specific, V-Series-inspired grille pattern that complements the black window moldings and roof rails. By comparison, the grille on the XT6 Premium Luxury features a bright Galvano finish with bright exterior accents all around.
The Sport version also has a unique front and rear fascia with tinted neutral-density (clear) taillight lenses, while its luxury counterpart features red taillight lenses. Both models have through-fascia exhaust outlets.
The XT6 Sport has standard 20-inch wheels, with available 21-inchers. The XT6 Premium Luxury, by comparison, rides on a set of trim-specific 20-inch units. Two headlamp assemblies are offered: standard bi-function LED projector, or an optional performance LED headlamp system with a three-element projector array.
Inside, the XT6Â Sport features a performance-inspired carbon fiber trim, while the Premium Luxury model has wood trimmings.
Every XT6, regardless of trim level, comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that can also be operated via a new rotary controller in the center console. A 4.2-inch driver information display sits ahead the driver. Connecting one’s phone is made simple thanks to one-touch phone pairing facilitated by Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, while occupants can stay “plugged in” with six USB ports – two for each row of seating.
Although nearly identical to the interior of the Cadillac XT5, the main attraction of the XT6 is its power-folding third row. The additional row expands to comfortably accommodate up to six or seven passengers, depending on the seating configuration. The second row, meanwhile, also features a remote fold-down feature and a tip/pitch-and-slide function that grants easier access to the third row.
All 2020 XT6 models are powered by GM’s 3.6L V6 LGX engine mated to the new GM 9-speed automatic transmission with next-generation Electronic Precision Shift. This combination produces an estimated 310 horsepower (231 kW). The XT6 Sport comes standard with a high-performance all-wheel-drive system, which is optional on the XT6 Premium Luxury model.
Pricing and additional details about the 2020 Cadillac XT6 Sport will become available closer to the production date.

I personally don’t understand why carmakers put carbon fiber in an FWD SUV. I would rather have a different type of wood.
Because a quality luxury car has equally high-quality, genuine materials… and carbon fiber fits the bill. Keep in mind that this is only on the Sport trim level, and the Premium Luxury trim will be offered with genuine wood.
Heck, it would be a shame if carbon fiber would be relegated to sports cars…
Have you seen the Kia Telluride! This already looks outdated.
You can ride your wheelchair after the kia accident, I will step out of my Cadillac (just not this lamemobile)and into the rental that on-star sent me. No shame – you do you. But a Kia? I’d rather have a Ford anything.
LOL. Good stuff
The XT6 looks great.
And Super Cruise WILL BE available on 2020 models at launch.
Hideous
So, after all the waiting and anticipation, the spy-shots, the eye rolling and hand wringing, the expectations and ruminations, discussions, and speculation – this is what we have to show for it all. What a disappointment. Except for the grill and taillights, it could be anything.
“Except for the grill and taillights, it could be anything.”
That’s literally every crossover segment.
They should have blacked out the bright strips on the doors and under the grille.
Does the XT5 have the ultraseude panels on the doors and dash like the XT6 (both trims, I think)?
Does GM shoot itself in the foot by debuting these new models with black interiors?
Wouldn’t maple sugar, wine or chocolate colored leathers visually pop the interior for press photos?
Could not agree more, but it’s even more important for showroom buyers, most of whom don’t read mags.
The press release photos were terrible, but at least it wasn’t a black interior.
Missed the mark totally.
Looking at that cheap interior. If the Cadillac badges were not there is no way you’d think this is or is going to be a 50k+ SUV.
Sadly, it’ll be much more than 50K. The XT4 can hit that much.
You’re right! I am think of the base price, then again it could hit close to 60k. I wonder if it will cost more than the Avaitor 52k or X5 60k…
Sadly, it’ll be much more than 50K. The XT4 can hit that much.
Looks nice on the outside, 310hp V6 only is a disappointment.
Still reminds me of an updated version of the original SRX. Almost looks like a gussied up Chevy in the front (oh no, not that again)! I guess they needed something, but I expected more. I don’t anticipate this outselling the Aviator.
As much as it doesn’t satisfy the enthusiast crowd, the XT6 hits right at the heart of the three-row luxury crossover market, and I wager that it will outsell the Aviator. It will do so on price alone, while also being a more profitable product for GM in the long run due to scale economies that the likes of the Explorer/Aviator duo can only dream of. That’s not to knock the Aviator… but from a business standpoint, the XT6 will be a more viable commercial venture.
Also, not sure what about the front end suggests Chevrolet to you. This thing looks really good in person, and the design has nothing Chevy about it.
I like the front end. I wish it had the XT4,s taillights (Up high on the D pillar) and it needs a V-sport trim with a Twin-turbo V6.
An even plainer exterior, blingtastic huge rims and yet another yawn inducing black interior that doesn’t belong in a Cadillac. That plus no twin turbo 3.0 V6 add up to one big yawn from me……
Can’t wait to see how much profits over product Mary prices it
Every Cadillac photo-spread features this bland, charcoal or black interior that could be right out of any current Chevrolet. What about Navy? Burgundy? Cream? Saddle? Is Connolly still around? THAT is what should be in a $50K+ Cadillac. (They weren’t exclusive to Rolls-Royce either: they were OEM for Volvo for years.) The RAM leather interiors look better.
No SuperCruise on their flagship new SUV ? And a dash lifted from the XT5 ..
This is what JDN had been working on for his time at the healm !?!
Lincoln will out sell this easily .
1. The XT6 is not the flagship Cadillac crossover nor the flagship Cadillac SUV. There will be a model above the XT6… much like there will be a model above the CT6.
2. We do not yet know about Super Cruise.
3. I’d wager some serious money that the Aviator will not outsell the XT6 based on simple economics. The XT6 might not be exciting to you or me… but it’s definitely configured to be a high-volume commercial success.
Mary Barra announced last week at Spring Hill that it would have SuperCruise.
I think the larger CUV (the silhouette seen in the intro video) will be EV. It would be cool if it could be had with either, but that’s not likely.
I still wish they’d upsize Volt tech for CUVs. That would diminish the problems of wind resistance and long trips. But for now most of the people who want electrics don’t want an ICE at all.
Alex,
I see all this talk from Cadillac and their fans saying ‘This is NOT the flagship; that product is coming and it’ll be better’. I have two thoughts on that. First off, the ‘something better’ product usually never materializes. All the grandiose plans for a top-tier Cadillac tend to get shelved. Secondly, whatever the most pricey/largest product offered by Cadillac at a given time happens to be, that product is the de facto flagship, whether it seems worthy of the moniker or not. For years Cadillac’s flagship car was a DTS even if they had big plans for an even better Zeta product.
Therefore I would respectfully dispute your assertion that XT6 is not the flagship crossover. It actually is. It’s the best they offer, it’s the flagship of the fleet. Five years from now it might not be but today it is. I think folks don’t like to acknowledge that such mediocre products serve as Cadillac’s flagship vehicles but that’s the reality. Nobody wants Cadillac to win more than me but the world I want for them doesn’t exist and likely never will again. As I see it, their top-self crossover is XT6, a reworked Chevy Traverse. It is the flagship. It is as good as it gets.
Alex You seem to be pretty knowledgeable about this vehicle do you know anything about the price and the release date it looks very good.
It looks a lot better in these photos.
Where are the proper engines ? 3.6 LGX ? Whoopdie doo
