2019 Chevrolet Silverado Is An Instrument In ‘Music Video’: Ad Break

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado marketing campaign is in full swing, with General Motors releasing all sorts of promotional material for the pickup including a slew of new video ads, sponsored magazine covers, website homepage takeovers and much more.

We’ve already covered the three main ads in the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado’s marketing campaign, entitled ‘A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock ‘n Roll’, ‘Official Truck of Real People’ and ‘Tailgates’, so now it’s time to cover the fourth: ‘Music Video’.

This ad appears to digital only as it was not mentioned in Chevrolet’s press release for the Silverado marketing campaign. The format wouldn’t make sense if the ad were shortened down, either, and this spot comes in at a full 60 seconds.

With no copy whatsoever, ‘Music Video’ is essentially just a 60-second song that uses the Silverado as an instrument. As people shut its doors, activate its power operated tailgate and load things into the bed, the truck forms the basis of a basic tune that eventually delves into a full-out rock song.

We actually think this is one of the weaker ads in the Silverado’s new marketing campaign – the beat making with the truck wasn’t that successful, in our opinion, and the tune isn’t very catchy. As we’ve said before, though, it’s nice to Chevy get away from the ‘Real People, Not Actors’ stuff, so this ad is still rather refreshing.

With available class-exclusive power up/down tailgates that can be operated from a key fob, interior button or by hand, the all-new 2019 Chevy Silverado offers the most functional bed of any full-size truck.

This copy-free advertisement is evidence of the more (only slightly) more daring approach Chevy is taking with regards to its marketing.

“In today’s hyper-connected, always-on society, we knew the all-new Silverado launch campaign needed to be bold, engaging and comprehensive to break through the clutter while staying true to the brand’s values and overall advertising approach,” said vice president of marketing at Chevrolet US, Paul Edwards.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is on sale now, with the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD set to follow later this year.

  1. AH, it’s all right. A lot better than the “real people” crap we’ve been subjected to for years now. I like adds where you see the vehicle in a “real” world setting, doing something rather than just sitting there with awards around it.
I have pretty much hated these new trucks but the lower trim level grilles and wide halogen lights have grown on me and I actually like a Trail Boss Custom or Custom but they have been de-contented so much and are so limited on options that I can’t bring myself to pull the trigger. I’ve made four dealer trips now and each time I find something that keeps me FROM buying as opposed to buying.
    GM, are you listening?
Give me the storage in the flip down part of the seat. I shouldn’t have to buy an LT to get that. AT least the option to buy it.
Give me better interior COLOR choices. Black is not a color and neither is “Very Dark Atmosphere”. Could I at least have tan or saddle again in ALL the trim levels?
To get the less annoying interior color I was going to have to move up to a LT Trail Boss. Ok, fine. But then I find out I can’t get a Double cab in a LT Trail Boss.
So my question is WTF GM? I’m actually wanting one of these trucks that have gotten so many bad reviews from people I don’t care about and you are making me go through hell to get it like I want.
Maybe some of those people are right?

    1. It’s ironic they are touting a truck for everyone and how many combinations you can have. I can’t build the truck I’d want either a d for multiple reasons. No where NEAR as customizable as the competition, probably half the options in customization. It’s not that it’s a bad truck, it’s pretty good with some glarring omissions that are in-excusbale. Then on top of that you can’t even select the few options they have in the way you’d want.

Needs a major re-structure of how they can be built ASAP and the MCE needs to address all the other idiot ommisions. Then I’ll look at them again. If not…hope the new F150 looks good in 2021/2022

  2. Well, whatever the harsh ride/suspension issue is they need to address that. Then of course the interior. Those two things aside, the only thing I hate about this truck exterior wise is the stupid trojan helmet fish gills dropping down into where the bumper should be. There’s photoshopped front end pics out there that fixed this and make it look perfect. I cringe when I see it in commercials. Just a few things fixed would literally turn this truck from a 5-6 into a perfect 10. I really think the back 3/4’s of this truck and side profile is the best looking thing they’ve done since the 67-72’s and gmt-400’s. When they show the side profile and back angle’s in these commercials I think it shows well.

The commercial itself is probably my least favorite so far but I like that they’re showing lot’s of different trims. Overall though, these ads are better than anything they’ve done in a long time. For me though the problem is they’re giving a great presentation of a truck that has a few issues when you actually go see it at the dealer. The 2020/21 fixes can’t come fast enough. The potential of this truck is there to take it to a perfect 10.

  3. I like the truck, I really do. My complaints has been mostly the interior in the higher trims not meeting the luxury price. And your limited to the 5.3 in TrailBoss but the AT4 has it as an option, I get the differentiation but still. Hopefully they won’t limit the 10 speed transmission like they have the 6.2L to higher trims but if it’s anything like previously I doubt they’ll change their packaging. I think Ford may offer it in more trim levels. But commercial was good. I miss the Silverado commercials. I absolutely hate the Ford F-150 commercials, they are so repetitive it gives me a headache. I even like the American revolution commercials back in 09′. I wish they would not always group the trucks and cars together.
