Another Milspec Hummer H1 has been delivered to its new owner and this may be one of the aftermarket upgrade shop’s best creations to date.
Milspec, if you haven’t come across them before, is an aftermarket upgrade and restorations shop with a taste for the Hummer H1. They don’t just upgrade them, either – they perform complete frame off restorations, swap in new powertrains and reupholster and restyle the cabin. They are the Singer Vehicle Design of the Hummer world, essentially.
This Milspec Hummer H1, which is the fifth vehicle to roll out of its Birmingham, Michigan shop, has had a frame-off restoration and now features upgraded AM General axles and ARB Air Locker differentials. A new 6.6-liter Duramax diesel has also been swapped in and now makes 500 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque thanks to some tuning upgrades applied by Milspec. The engine is paired with an Allison 1000 automatic transmissions and upgraded part-time 2-speed transfer cases.
Inside, Milspec Hummer #005 gets diamond-stitched seat inserts and door panels, Black Nappa leather upholstery and an upholstered dash and center console. The exterior is set apart from other Milspec Hummers thanks to a Moonlight Grey polyurethane-kevlar body coating, black trim and 18-inch Pro Comp wheels. Other small upgrades include a Tough Duck marine canvas, an offset intake snorkel, a rear step bumper, a Class III receiver and automatic running boards.
The price for all this? $248,691. If you have that kind of cash to throw around, the Milspec Hummer H1 Launch Edition can be yours, with the company now taking orders. There are just seven Launch Edition build slots left. We’d say act quick, but let’s be real, the market for a luxury military vehicle with 500 is probably fairly small.
