Dubai Police Acquire Chevrolet Tahoe Based ‘Ghiath’ SUV

The Dubai Police force is known for its large collection of extravagant, over the top patrol cars. The United Arab Emirates city has all sorts of absurd police vehicles, ranging from a Bugatti Veyron to a Lamborghini Aventador, but they recently acquired something a little bit different.
The wild creation you see before you is called the W Motors Ghiath. This futuristic, crime-fighting SUV is based on the Chevrolet Tahoe and is described as the most advanced patrol vehicle in the world.
Onboard facial recognition technology spots criminals from a distance and can instantly send the information to the Dubai Police Command Operations Room. The interior is adorned with various touchscreens that can relay real-time information to the officers inside. There are also buttons and switches for the lights and sirens and other typical patrol car add-ons.
Performance statistics and other specs on the W Motors Ghiath are slim. It’s allegedly based on a standard Chevrolet Tahoe, however, so it’s probably packing a 355 hp 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission. It’s probably one of the slower vehicles in Dubai’s police fleet, then, but the Ghiath, with its onboard AI and facial recognition, isn’t really meant for highway patrols.
You may have heard of W Motors before. The Dubai-based automaker gained some notoriety when it released the Lykan Hypersport, now referred to as the Fenyr SuperSport. The supercar is loosely based on the RUF CTR3 and is powered by a RUF-developed 799 hp 3.8-liter flat-six engine making 799 hp and 723 lb-ft of torque. W Motors claims it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.7s and reach a top speed of 245 mph.
Check out the Chevrolet Suburban-based W Motors Ghiath in the video embedded above. As an added bonus, you get to have a laugh at the cheesy mid 2000s-style action movie CGI in the video as well.
