Buick Regal sales increased 11.36 percent to 2,793 units in the third quarter – welcoming results given the ongoing market shift away from passenger cars and towards crossovers and SUVs. So, in a potential effort to continue this positive trend, a new Buick discount for December 2018 drops the price of a Regal Sportback 17 percent below MSRP.
The Incentive
The nationwide Buick discount on the 2018 Regal Sportback is 17 percent discount below MSRP.
This deal is only applicable to 2018 Buick Regal Sportback models, meaning the TourX and GS models are excluded. For reference, here are the Regal Sportback trim levels and their corresponding starting MSRPs:
- Sportback (1SV) – $25,915
- Preferred (1SB) – $28,595
- Preferred II (1SC) – $30,695
- Essence (1SL) – $32,695
As such, the Buick incentive brings the starting price of the Essence model down to $27,136.85.
To note, Buick introduced the range-topping Avenir (1SU) trim level on the Regal Sportback, but only for the 2019 model year. See more on the 2019 Regal Avenir.

2018 Buick Regal TourX
Buick revealed the all-new Regal in April 2017 at the New York Auto Show and the vehicles launched for the 2018 model year. The sixth-gen model is based on the GM E2 platform, which also underpins the 2016 and newer Chevrolet Malibu and upcoming Cadillac XT4. The Regal is also sold as the second-generation Opel-Vauxhall Insignia and the NG 2018 Holden Commodore in Australia and New Zealand by GM subsidiary Holden.
Prior to the launch of the sixth-gen model, the fifth-generation Regal was available for a total of seven model years, from 2011 thru 2017. That model rode on the GM Epsilon II platform also shared with the first-gen Opel-Vauxhall Insignia and eighth-generation Malibu.
For the 2019 model year, the Buick Regal family gets a new Avenir trim level, along with Whisper Beige seats with Ebony interior accents for the Regal Sportback as well as a new cabin air ionizer for the Sportback and TourX models.
The sixth-gen Buick Regal is built at the following facilities:
- Opel Rüsselsheim plant in Germany, satisfying North American markets, and
- Shanghai-GM Jinqiao South plant operated by GM China and its partner, SAIC, satisfying the Chinese market

Nice car. Overweight but still nice. If They kept production here in the US it would be on our current buy list.
The Regal sportback ranges from 3400-3800 lbs. That’s not heavy for a midsize sedan.
