About Chevrolet Equinox

The Chevrolet Equinox is a compact crossover. It slots above the Chevrolet Trax and below the Chevrolet Traverse. It will also be positioned below the rumored to be the future Chevrolet Blazer. The first-generation Equinox ran from the 2005-2009 model years and was based on the first-generation Theta platform. The second-generation Equinox was offered from the 2010-2017 model years and was based on the Theta 2 platform. Both the first- and second-generation models were "tweeners", in that they straddled the compact and midsize CUV segments in size. The third-generation model was introduced for the 2018 model year. It rides on the GM D2 platform shared with the second-generation GMC Terrain, Chevrolet Cruze, and Chevrolet Volt and, unlike its two predecessors, is positioned squarely in the compact segment.

The third-generation, 2018 and newer Equinox features an all-new exterior and interior, while being slightly smaller inside and out compared to the outgoing model. It also offers an all-new engine lineup and an all-new lightweight architecture that enables a weight savings of over 400 pounds compared to the second-gen model. As a result, the new Equinox gets better fuel economy while also delivering improvements in ride, handling, packaging, and safety.

  1. No comments on here because I do not hold out hope for this vehicle. Already dated looking, last-gen Camaro interior, and Made in Mexico = poor re-sale value and not cool to not support your neighbor’s job and your community by building it here.

    No thanks

    1. I didnt write this, but found it so well said that I thought it was relevant to this thread too. It is on the other Chevy Blazer article of the day. Yes, ANOTHER Chevy Blazer article…like every darn day on GMA!!!!

“So sad that some childish buffoon used “Scott3” username. We are not fooled as Scott3 is the only one who seemed to provide knowledgeable, intelligent commentary on the auto industry coming from years of experience. The same cannot be said for the immature bloggers on this site that claim to know anything about the auto industry.

I agree with many others that the daily Chevy Blazer hard-shell stories is getting a tad old and desperate. I am more interested in why GM claims they need to make this in Mexico (doesn’t support American jobs or communities in the process) when Ford is making its new Bronco in Michigan, USA, Jeep making the new Wrangler in Ohio, USA, and even the Japanese like Honda and Toyota making low-end crossovers in the U.S. profitably. If these companies can do it, GM had no excuse. Mary Barra, this might be why sales have dropped at GM under your watch…hint, hint.”

  2. First ford is dropping all of its car lines so it has a factory to build the bronco. Second GM is going to be importing this vehicle not just to the US but other countries. Importing out of the US is very expensive compared to Mexico. This is one of things Trump has been working regarding tariffs with other countries related to trade. Could they build it here maybe. Do they have factory to do it right away probably not. The market is constantly changing and if this thing sells a lot some production could be brought to the US. I’m all for US jobs but I also understand a companies job is to make money over everything. If they make a good they can pay there employees and invest it back into the company. GM, being a worldwide company has to produce vehicles where it makes the most since. Just like many other companies. GM is making record profits so despite what many are saying they must be doing something right.
