2020 Cadillac XT6 Confirmed For China During GM Earnings Call

As Cadillac continues to expand its portfolio and catch up with its crossover SUV offerings, the logical next step would be a full-size three-row product slotted between the mid-range XT5 and the massive Escalade. Things seem to be well on their way, with the 2020 Cadillac XT6 spied time and again under veiled camouflage, and now has been confirmed that the vehicle will launch in China by GM CEO Mary Barra during the company’s Q3 2018 earnings call.
The 2020 Cadillac XT6 has been talked about by GM officials before, but this may be the first mentioning of it heading to the Chinese market, where Cadillac is seeing some success, particularly with younger buyers. Cadillac was the only GM brand in China to see an increase in sales during the third quarter of 2018, selling 46,020 units. That’s a four percent increase and a Q3 sales record for the brand in the Chinese market. Otherwise, GM China sales dropped some 15 percent, with a particularly steep drop from Buick.
The 2020 Cadillac XT6 is likely to be on the same long wheelbase C1 platform as the Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse, which are regarded as widely functional three-row family vehicles, if not radically pedestrian. We can hope that the XT6 will find itself more equipped to handle imposing competition from other luxury three-row crossovers, but because of its transverse engined, FWD layout, it’s likely to come in at a more agreeable price point, while the Escalade caps the lineup as the signature flagship SUV for the brand.
Technology will separate the 2020 Cadillac XT6 from its platform mates, and perhaps even the imported competition. By 2020, Cadillac is expected to implement Super Cruise to every vehicle in its portfolio. For that to happen, vehicles like the ATS and CTS will need to be cycled out of the lineup to make room for the next generation of passenger cars capable of implementing the technology. And by 2023, Cadillac plans to introduce V2X technology “in a high-volume crossover,” and eventually expand the technology across the Cadillac portfolio. It’s possible the upcoming 2020 Cadillac XT6 full-size crossover will be that vehicle.
The 2020 Cadillac XT6 is expected to reveal itself to the world in January during the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit – the last time the show will take place in the winter.

2020 For re-skinned Travers? This is a long time. My guess starting price will be $59K.
Meanwhile, over at Lincoln, spy shots of the upcoming RWD-based Aviator are slowly beginning to generate buzz!
Seriously though, I hope the XT6 does debut with the Super Cruise tech! This’ll be the among the best things they can offer to set it apart from its platform mates; besides offering their TT V6 and V8 engines with superior driving dynamics! I got the chance to experience Super Cruise with the CT6 during a test drive and I think it’s fantastic! Innovation like this can really put Cadillac in the big league!
Given that Cadillac sells just as many vehicles in China as it does in the United States, one has to think that Cadillac thinks or needs to consider the China market in the development of every product they’re developing and will need to consider accepting concepts from Cadillac of China if it hasn’t already.
Actually, everything is designed to Chinese specs already. That’s perceived as the future and where the growth is.
I’ve been waiting all my life to buy a Chinese spec Cadillac. Why should Cadillac try to compete with German and Japanese design and “Dare Greatly” when the GM strategy is all about lowering the bar and build “Good Enough”. The engineers at GM work tirelessly to take out any unnecessary quality in their vehicles so as to maximize profits while remaining somewhat competitive. This is the Prime Directive. Is it just a coincidence that the LAST two brands in Consumer Digest’s reliability ratings are the brands with the Chinese connection, Volvo and Cadillac.
why can’t it be RWD ; not for a Cadillac?

Is this supposed to be competition for the Q7, X5, GLE? That’s a joke if it is. Those SUVs esp the latter two are serious this time around? I do not care for the styling for the styling of them but the interiors are BAD A** in quality. A chromed out Chevy?
So when this debuts in January we will be XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6,XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6,XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6, XT6 for the next year.

Audi A6, A7, A8, Q8, e-Tron along with their a4, a5, a3, q3, q5, q7, TT, R8, A3 cont, A5 convt, R8, R8 did I forget any?
MB A, CLA, GLB, G, GLS, GLE, EQC, AMG GT, CLS all by 2020! too many to count
Caddy CT4, CT5, XT4, TX6, Escalade- CT6, XTS, XT5 (8 cars?)
WEAK INTERIORS. Sub part powertrain. Tech is okay. Cadillac I tired to buy a ATS, then later the CTS. When I compared them Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Audi I could not buy your cars. Too weak. I live in Miami I can’t use all of those driving dynamics.
These haters and others similar my comment is the truth about Cadillac!
YOUR THUMBS DOWN REPRESENT WHAT BUYERS THINK ABOUT CADILLAC.
No stability!
Detroit, NYC, back to Detroit?
Book. Inactive Book.
Failures XLR, ELR, ATS, 2014+CTS
Name changes; DTS, STS, CTS, ATS, SRX. No stable model lineup. Who can keep up!
Super Cruise is fine but its only for the highway for those who have not drove it. I have.
Again, when I drove the ATS in 2014. The cheapness of the interior and the same in 2015 when I looked at the CTS. I bought elsewhere or other brands.
I drove the XT4 and CT6 (2019) the door lock in a piece of cheap plastic on the CT6. Look at the door lock on a C class it’s the small details like that, that make a difference. The center console just cheap plastic on the CT6. Look the BMW, Lexus, Audi, Mercedes, Volvo and others it’s competing with! I was blown away with the interior of the S90 Volvo last year. After an accident I was given a CT6. Tech is cool. The inside is a dump on wheels.

“YOUR THUMBS DOWN REPRESENT WHAT BUYERS THINK ABOUT CADILLAC.”
Nope. You can’t make the correlation, but I bet I can figure it out.
It’s because you spammed XT6 over 150 time like drooling idiot. What the hell is wrong with you?
Actually the downvotes represent how no one understands wtf you’re trying to say with that mess of words.
If you dont understand do not comment.
I am stated what the competition has and is going to release.
Cadillac is stuck on XT4, and then when the XT6 we will hear all about it. The XT4 is on sale move and show us what is coming Three SUVs will not save Cadillac.
Audi, BMW and MB are showing us what is coming to market – Cadillac shows one car and rides until wheels fall off.
And those dumpters for interiors. I can very afford to Cadillac or anything I’d like to buy. Cadillac keeps putting out BS over and over again. But hey they have the XT4, XT4, XT4, XT4.
“If you dont understand do not comment.”
That’s not how the world works. If you make an arse of yourself, AND you’re unintelligible, you haven’t got a chance of being taken seriously.
Why don’t you re-write your original argument, and lay off with the redundant spamming.
Kev, it appears that you’re out-numbered… so just let it go, and walk away. Get you some rest. lol Try again tomorrow and this time, be a little bit more optimistic in your comments. G’day!
Since it’ll be sold in China, does that mean they’ll offer it with the 3.0TT to avoid the displacement tax? The XT6 seems rather large to be powered by a traditional 2.0T* setup.
__
I know that the Audi Q7 & Volvo XC90 have 2.0T, doesn’t make it right though.
Same for the traverse RS. Tiny 2.0T in vehicle that heavy? No thanks
“Otherwise, GM China sales dropped some 15 percent, with a particularly steep drop from Buick.”
Maybe it’s time for GM to do away with Buick altogether and focus on one luxury brand. GM is the only brand that tortures itself with a mid-luxury brand that takes budget from the luxury brand. Let’s face it, the current Buick lineup carries none of its past novelty and its sole existence was for the China market.
It would be smart to give Cadillac the full focus it needs.
Nonsense. There just needs to be further separation between Buick and Cadillac. Both brands can coexist with one another. Except for China, it’s not like one is outselling in far greater numbers between the two brands in North America anyway.
Although I like Cadillac far better than Buick, both brands need a lot of room for improvement.
The appropriate separation would be putting Buick in the parts bin in the sky, next to Pontiac.
And you -N400- in the garbage bin destined to the glue factory… Lol
No worries…I’ve been kicked to the curb plenty of times when I happened to be stuck in the wrong business unit of a large company.
Doesn’t change the fact the Buick is a bunch of derivative vehicles based on Chevy and GM Europe, that can easily move into the Chevy showroom and offload GM from having to run another brand that no one really understands anymore beyond nostalgia… splitting the resources between Chevrolet and Cadillac would result in improving those brands.
Sorry I hit a nerve with the Buick lovers…
Buick represents refinement w/ understated design and class. Also Buick has an excellent combination of affordability and luxury meaning affordable luxury. If you don’t like Buick, take your eyes off of them and look at something else while driving down the road.
It is like saying that VW shouldn’t exist because Audis are dressier versions of VWs.
So let me see if I have this right…
Chevrolet = VW = Toyota = Honda = Nissan
Cadillac = Audi = Lexus = Acura = Infiniti
Buick = refinement w/ understated design and class
That does explain it…
don’t forget to include the Cimmarron
