2019 Cadillac Escalade Gains Blacked-Out Sport Edition

The 2019 Cadillac Escalade has gone dark. The luxury brand introduced the Escalade Sport Edition on Wednesday with blacked-out looks, and well, that’s about it.

Playing it fast and loose with the word “sport,” the 2019 Cadillac Escalade Sport Edition namely adds a gloss black grille, window moldings, body side moldings, and more gloss black makes its way to the rear fascia. The standard 22-inch wheels also gain a blackened shade called “Midnight Silver.”

Standard Escalade Sport Editions build upon the Luxury trim and feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a heated leather steering wheel, and heated and cooled front seats. Rear passengers in the second row also receive heated bucket seats, too.

As we said, this a “sport” edition in name only. The same 6.2-liter V8 engine provides 420 horsepower and power is sent to either the rear wheels or all four with an optional four-wheel drive system. Since the Sport Edition package may be applied to the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum models, buyers can also select various other options such as Magnetic Ride Control.

The Escalade Sport Edition is the first special edition model to grace the current-generation nameplate since it arrived for the 2015 model year. We could see more to keep the SUV fresh until the next-generation Escalade arrives, likely for the 2020 model year. Pricing starts at $84,790, but the package itself will be a $2,700 option. Look for the Escalade Sport Edition at dealerships in the first quarter of 2019.

  1. I hope Cadillac has more in store for the next generation Escalade next year, because Lincoln just announced next summer’s Aviator will have 450+hp and 600+lb-ft from a gas-electric powertrain with IRS and adjustable air suspension. And it looks pretty good, especially the interior

    1. And with 400hp/400+TQ standard the Xt6 better bring it’s A game. I don’t think there corporate 2.0T and 3.6 will cut it in this segment, sure any engine will sell in that segment but to put yourself over the top they need to bring an interior that’s unlike any caddy on the market today.

      1. Bingo!!! No room for cost cutting in this segment! Either bring the best you have or bring nothing!!! And with two underutilized TTV6s in their stable just begging to dawn the V-Sport/V-Series badge, there’s no excuse for Cadillac to to enter this segment underpowered!

  2. IT IS A CRYING SHAME THAT GM IS GOING THE SAME WAY AS FORD BY ENDING THE SALES OF AUTO’S WHICH ARE NOT SELLING WELL, SO LETS GO WITH ALL THE WRONG THINGS BUT THINK ABOUT WHAT CAN BE DONE IN STEAD OF SHUTTING DOWN PLANTS BECAUSE YOU DONT NOW HOW DO DO THE PROPER THING. SHOW YOU HAVE THE PROPER IDEA AND START BY BRING ALL ITEMS WITH V-8’S,AND V-6’S BACKS AUTOS OR 6 ,8 SPEED AUTOS ETCS .

  4. How about the blackeye edition for all the laid-off workers…

  5. Instead of spending money on the exterior, should have gone with some kind of executive package to help that aging interior. If I was in the market for a premium SUV, no way I would buy this knowing a new one is due in about two years.

  6. For about $90,000 and a couple of gold chains, you too can look like a drug dealer.

    1. That’s what I thought when I saw a Drug Dealer being arrested and his Range Rover was being towed to the impound lot. No Gold chains tho.. Maybe he got the memo that he wasn’t still living in the 90s. A girl I know says he is of good stock and his parents are good people.. professionals, and very respected in the Russian community

  7. It’s time for Cadillac to put Escalade back if where it looks the best! In Front!
