2019 Blazer Announced For Colombia, Goes On Sale Next Year

Chevy fans in Colombia will soon have an attractive new crossover to buy – the 2019 Blazer. The Detroit-based automaker announced the Blazer at the Bogotá International Motor Show in Bogotá.

“Our new Chevrolet Blazer is an example of the evolution of the brand in terms of design and technology, establishing a new language for the SUV family and extending our momentum in one of the fastest growing segments of the industry,” said Fernando Agudelo, President of General Motors South America West (in a statement translated from Spanish by GM Authority). “As the Camaro of SUVs, the Blazer will complement the portfolio of Chevy trucks, along with the Chevrolet Equinox, Traverse, Trailblazer, and Tahoe.”

It looks like much of what the 2019 Blazer comes with in the U.S. market will be available in the South American country. The press release notes the 2019 Blazer will offer various GM active safety technologies, including lane keep assist, front pedestrian detection, automatic park assist with cross traffic alert, forward collision alert, and adaptive cruise control.

Power will come from the 3.6-liter LGX V6 engine, which produces 310 horsepower and features auto stop/start. Though Chevrolet’s announcement didn’t state it explicitly, we believe that lower-end models will be powered by the less powerful 2.5-liter LCV I4 engine. Regardless of engine, the GM 9-speed automatic transmission will do shifting duty.

Inside, the Blazer borrows some Camaro design cues, such as the circular air vents. The center stack consists of an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The glove box locks electronically. Other features include a rearview camera, an adjustable sliding rear seat, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear ventilation, rear seat reminder alert, GM’s patented Teen Driver feature, and much more.

“The new Chevrolet Blazer is an ‘SUV with an attitude,’ as it has an innovative style to attract a new generation of customers, with two rows that offer seats for five passengers and all-wheel drive,” said Luis Salem, Vice President of Marketing at GM South America West. “It will be the center of attention for its incredible design.”

The introduction of the 2019 Blazer in Colombia marks a notable change in strategic direction for GM/Chevrolet in South America, which previously offered a disjointed lineup of models that didn’t correlate to the automaker’s range in North America.

  1. Hmm gee look at this.

Where do most of the vehicles for South America comes from Mexico because it is easier and more profitable to ship from there.

Amazing when you have more facts it makes the puzzle pieces all fit so much better.

  2. Made in Mexico = poor resale value

Made in Mexico = no American jobs, taxes, unions, or community involvement

Dated interior styling = cant live with it for long

Chevy and GMA making excuses for why this is not made in the USA when Ford and FCA , and pretty much everyone else, is doing just that = PRICELESS!

    1. Well bless your heart.

      Now cut the crap.

Resale is totally up effected by being made in Mexico.

While we do not get all the jobs we do get up make 60 to 80 percent of the content the are built with.

I will give you taxes but one of the big reason they are in Mexico is the unions.

They are involved with local communities near the plant.

As for styling it is a matter of personal taste. Based on your other comments well bless your heart.

  3. Yeah, made in Mexico is not ideal but I am more concerned with the God awful interior GM put in the new Chevy Blazer. Yikes! Plastic and cartoonish. No wonder they only ever want to show the exterior.
