A new recall impacts the Chevy Low Cab Forward 6500XD over an issue with the lock that controls the tilt of the cab.
The defect: the cab may not provide an adequate warning to lock the cab tilt-lock after servicing. If the cab tilt-lock is not engaged, the cab can tilt forward while driving.
The hazards: if the cab tilts forward while driving, it can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Affected components: latches, locks linkages.
Affected vehicles:
- 2018-2019 Chevy Low Cab Forward 6500XD
- 2018-2019 Isuzu FTR
Notably, Isuzu builds the Low Cab Forward for GM/Chevrolet, which in turn sells the model via its Chevy retail channel. The 6500XD is the range-topping Chevy Low Cab Forward model.
Number of vehicles affected: 2,076 units (United States figure).
The fix: GM and Isuzu will notify owners, and dealers will install an extension to the locking lever to increase its visibility to the operator, free of charge.
Owners should: await notification from GM and Isuzu.
