The recently-launched 2019 Cadillac XT4 offers various packages, one of which is the Trailering Package, which is colloquially known as the towing package.
Let’s take a closer look at what the optional package offers and what it does in Cadillac’s new compact CUV.
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 towing package includes two components: a heavy-duty cooling system (RPO Code V08) and a 2-inch receiver with a wiring connector.
The heavy-duty cooling system ensures stable operating engine temperatures during towing, which is vital to the proper operation of any vehicle, with the XT4 being no exception. Meanwhile, the wiring connector makes hooking up the trailer’s lights much easier for the end-user, while the 2-inch receives can receive the trailer’s hitch.
It’s worth noting that the upgraded cooling system, wiring connector and receiver are only available with the Trailering Package, and cannot be added to the vehicle in any other way… at least at the time of this writing.
Opting for the 2019 Cadillac XT4 towing package uncovers the crossover’s full towing capacity, which is 3500 pounds. That’s not an earth-shattering towing capacity… but it’s enough to tow a U-Haul moving trailer, a pair of jetskis, or other toys that don’t exceed the 3,500-pound mark.
Assigned RPO Code V92, the Cadillac XT4 towing package is available on all models, including the base Luxury as well as the up-level Premium Luxury and Sport.
The XT4 Towing Package by itself is a $300 option, which isn’t much considering it adds a significant amount of potential functionality to the small luxury crossover.
More 2019 Cadillac XT4 Features
Overall, the new XT4 offers many features, many of which have never been offered by a Cadillac vehicle, such as the all-new 2.0L turbo LSY engine, next-generation Electronic Precision Shift, Electro-Hydraulic Braking Assist, the new “Y trim level” strategy, rotary controllers for the infotainment system, and more.
Another new-to-Cadillac feature is Near-Field Communication technology. NFC for short, the tech aims to improve and simplify the process of pairing a smartphone to the vehicle.
The 2019 XT4 starts at $35,790 (including destination); in the United States, the model went on sale in late August. The vehicle assembled at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City.
The new XT4 is a key product for Cadillac, as it gives the brand an entry in a large and growing segment in which it wasn’t present previously.
