New Body Kit Gives Chevy Malibu A Camaro Face

Looks were never a problem area with the current, ninth-generation Chevy Malibu. In fact, style was always regarded as a strong point of the midsize sedan, though Chevrolet did make an effort to improve on the look with the facelifted, 2019 Malibu. In fact, we couldn’t think that the Malibu could look any better than the 2019 Malibu RS… until we saw this body kit.

Designed by kit maker AeroNine, the aftermarket fascia seen here gives the Malibu a face very much reminiscent of Chevy’s sixth-generation Camaro ZL1, with a gaping maw right below the narrow grille opening, which houses the bow tie.

The large lower grille is flanked by two smaller inlets, each housing a vertically-positioned LED Daytime Running Light (DRL). A rather aggressive valance-style lower lip rounds out the package for an indistinguishable look. Notice the four UltraSonic parking sensors – two at the mid-line of the front fascia, and two near the lower lip.

The whole ensemble looks sinister, aggressive, and just mean – in a good way, making us wonder if Chevy was too conservative with the 2019 model year refresh. Heck, how awesome would it have been if the 2019 Chevy Malibu RS had this kind of front fascia?

Like it… love it… hate it? Sound off in the comments.

About Chevrolet Malibu

The Chevrolet Malibu is a mid-size sedan sold in most markets where Chevrolet has a business presence. It is currently Chevrolet's second-largest sedan, in the U.S. and Canada, slotting above the subcompact Chevrolet Sonic and compact Chevrolet Cruze but under the full-size Chevrolet Impala.

The current, ninth-generation model was introduced in 2016. It rides on the GM E2 platform shared with the Buick Regal, Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, Holden Commodore NG, and the Cadillac XT4.

For 2019 - the fourth model year of the ninth-gen model - the Malibu received a midcycle enhancement, otherwise known as a facelift or refresh, that consists of revised exterior styling, a new Malibu RS trim level, a CVT transmission for L, LS, LT and RS models, a new infotainment system, a new 8-inch reconfigurable driver information center (DIC), LED headlamps on the Premier model, and various other new features.

  1. Love it! If I buy my current lease out, would definitely consider one of these! Links to their site??

    1. None. Can’t find any links at the moment. Could be unique to Korea. Will keep digging.

  2. Uh, I don’t know. Why? If you want a Camaro, buy a Camaro. The front of the Malibu looks just fine as it is. I mean, I hate to sound like my dad, God rest his soul, but like he always said, and would have in this case, the company designed it this way so that it wasn’t a Camaro. It isn’t going to improve the value of the vehicle; it is likely to lessen the value. You’ll never get your money out of it, not that you would ever get money out of a used run-of-the-mill car. It sounds like a whole pile of cash for no good reason. Or, like dad would have said, “More money than brains.”

      1. Yes Tim, get the program, being conscientious with money and not pimping your ride is undeniable proof that you lead a boring life.

  3. Now give it a V8, rear wheel drive and Manual, and maybe I’ll consider one.

    1. And I bet you want it all for less than $20K.

      “…and maybe I’ll consider one.”

You don’t have any genuine intent to get such a car if GM did make one. You’re either horny to really have a RWD manual Malibu, or you’re just empty wishing. Get real.

    2. Wouldn’t a Northstar fwd make this a real car? (Speaking from a 2016 Malibu Hybrid, that’s good enough for an old f***). Naw!

  4. If you’re going to get the CVT transmission you better have them throw in an extra one cuz you’ll need it.

  5. I think they could of done that in the wayyy beginning of it way before the refresh

  6. When the dust settles and all is calm, it’s still a front wheel drive lack luster image of yesteryear. Quit teasing the poor car even with makeup on it is still a Malibu without steroids.

  8. Listen I’m a looks and sounds good guy, If the car ‘looks fast’ and can ‘sound ‘ fast… I’ll buy it. Slap a lambo body kit on a 10mph or 15mph Jon deer tractor slap a really loud and noise producing pipe on it. Boom I’ll be the happiest owner of the slowest lambo.

People hate the new Prius for being slow. Off who cares it looks exotic as hell!

I don’t have the money for a comero or mustang or Pontiac gt or anything fast. That’s why I plan on buying a Honda civic, getting LW raceing rims breaks tires carbonfiber body replaments and a nice big spoiler, light wight fun fast accleration. Cool looks, noisy exsuaht. Shitty top end speed, who cares? Looks nice. ….you cant even legally drive top speeds of these fast cars unless you track and not alot of people that own them take them to track. So… I see top end as pointless

    1. Dude, you’re 10 years too late. Ricing cars is stone dead, and to do it nowadays would be a public admission that you care only about appearances and not about substance.

You wouldn’t fool anyone with your Lambo-John Deer, or your base model Civic pretending to be an SI. People can see right through it all nowadays, and they look for the details that matter.

You should put your Fast and Furious DVD’s away.

  9. Now put a v8 in it, bigger wheels/tires, option for manual and then it’ll be a 4-door Camaro..

  10. Looks as if the took the front end from the Camry smh they have taken away from the Malibu and Impala they look nothing near the original and that’s what keep ppl interested to see where they improved from not taken away… But hey they don’t have me in office helping them ?

  11. Why would anyone who gets this done to their poor Malibu? Looking like a Camaro is not cool if you are not a Camaro, it is lame. This reminds me of when I used to see teenagers with spoilers and big exhaust tips on their Cavaliers.

  12. Great but it doesn’t fix the CVT with no stick shift. Would cost several grand to get the kit and paint. Wouldn’t a Honda Accord Sport with a 2.0L Turbo and 6-speed manual be a better deal for 30K?

  13. It’s still a 4 door ,what more can you say .

  14. I like it. The new Camaro SS wishes it could look this cool!!!

  15. Great, but it’s still front drive with a weak 4 cylinder motor. The 2.0T is passable, but 90% have the weak 1.5T that can’t get out of its own way. This is progress. No more V6 and a weaker base 4. Oh well. At least it doesn’t have an antiquated manual transmission.

  16. I am a 78 yr. Old from the muscle car era . If you are going to change front ends.go with a trans am front end on a camaro, although it’s kind of expensive. I am the proud owner of a 97 ws6 trans am ,the last of the cool looking cars. Only the challenger stayed true to the 70 design.

Chevrolet should build it with the 3.9 Malibu SS. I will sign up now.

      1. Yea, and GM canned it for slow sales. People post they want big block V8’s RWD cars, then nobody buys them.

        Reply
        1. And that’s the big hiccup. Everyone wants big block a V8’s RWD car, but nobody wants to pay for one….or rather, they’ll expect the car to be as affordable as a sub-compact from today. On top of that, they’ll complain about how it’s not a carbon copy of something from the 60’s, even if the finished product is far better than anything built in 60’s.

Bluntly, there’s too many cheapskate hypocrites who would never be happy with anything built after the 1960’s, and who think there are no fun cars built today.

It isn’t if you managed to live beyond 1995 and see the demand for performance cars change over time.

  20. It’s said that idle hands are the devil’s workshop as it’s obvious that this company simply had too much time and money because it borders on insanity to transform the Malibu to look like a Camaro; this reminds me of the kits they had for Pontiac’s Fiero of yesteryear.

  21. Design and quality are today’s great points of differenciation. Buyers are hungry for the beautiful, bespoken and even shocking.

A Camaro-like face would set Malibu apart from the play-it-safe crowd. A sporty face would attract both Accord and Charger fans and lift Malibu out of its also ran status. Malibu has a great design, is on top with Accord and Mazda 6 for looks, quality as road manners.
GM, however, placed a ceiling on Malibu–no AWD, lackluster interior–to justify the higher Regal sticker price. Chevy could learn from Chrysler 200 and the higher end interior and easter eggs found on even base models.
GM must offer more if they want to convince Toyota and Honda fans to check out Malibu.

  26. Gross. The front reminds me if the current ZL1, the ugliest of all 6th gen Camaros. Appearance wise I don’t get why anyone would prefer the look of the Zl1 over a SS 1LE. The 6th gen is over the top already and they just gave it the AutoZone treatment.

    A mask is just that
It’s not original anymore it’s just a transformation
Guaranteed you put this on a Malibu the camaro world will be calling you a camaro wannabe
As well as if you wanted that look perhaps save up for the real thing

FWD, under powered… not a real muscle car… ya ya ya. This ain’t the 60’s and we don’t have many option of unique looking cars on the road anymore. I say if this becomes available in the states… I want one. Maybe 2!!!
