    1. If you are serious about owning this car or a car like it while driving it year-round in four-season climates, then you should also be serious about getting another set of wheels and tires for the winter.

Complaining that the CTS-V has summer tires is like complaining that your base Chevy Colorado can’t wade three feet of water in stock form. Get with the program.

      1. While I fully understand John’s frustration, I am inclined to agree with Alex that a performance car is meant to have performance tires. I have owned 3 CTS-Vs – an ’05 sedan, an ’09 sedan, and a ’14 coupe – and the summer only tires made them virtually undriveable in snow or ice, and I don’t think having AWD on future Vs will make much difference (although I am looking forward to trying it out). Changing out the wheels and tires helps solve the problem, but it also changes the performance. Unlike John, I live in the mid-Atlantic, and there are some really nice driving days during the 4 or 5 months that you would have the alternative wheels and tires on. I would just as soon keep the performance level the Cadillac engineers intended, and drive something else or catch a ride on days when the weather demands it. In the NE, where the weather is a more frequent problem, drivers like John probably need to go with a different set of tires.

        1. I live in Chicago and I’m with John. I wish that for what we are paying for, all season AND summer tires came with vehicles like these. If you live where there is sun year-round you may delete the all season set.
