Silver Ice Metallic 2019 Camaro 1LE Turbo: Photo Gallery

Last month, we flew out to Seattle to test the 2019 Camaro 1LE Turbo, and shared our first drive impressions with you just a few days later. Today, we have a whole gallery dedicated to the boosted pony we drove.

The Camaro 1LE Turbo is really a bit of a misnomer, since this model’s complete name should technically be Camaro Turbo LT 1LE RS, because it’s equipped with:

  • A turbo-charged 2.0L Turbo engine (LTG)
  • The LT trim level, representing one of three LT-level trim levels – 1LT, 2L (the new-for-2019 3LT automatically adds the 3.6L LGX engine)
  • The 1LE Track Performance Package
  • The RS appearance package

The 1LE Track Performance Package for the LT trim (RPO code A1X) is the star of the show here. For the 2019 model year, the package can be configured with the 2.0L Turbo engine, while bringing a significant amount of features including:

  • Brembo 4-piston front performance 4-wheel antilock, 4-wheel disc brakes
  • External engine oil cooler
  • Extra capacity cooling system
  • Rear differential cooler
  • Limited slip differential
  • Heavy-Duty Cooling and Brake Package
  • Performance suspension
  • Satin Black front splitter
  • Satin Black hood wrap
  • Satin Black rear blade spoiler
  • Black mirror caps
  • 245/40ZR20 front and 275/35ZR20 rear blackwall, summer-only, run-flat tires
  • 20″ x 8.5″ front and 20″ x 9.5″ rear black forged aluminum wheels
  • RS badging
  • RS lighting

At the front, the 2019 Camaro gains new front-end styling that brings further differentiation between the LS/LT, SS, and ZL1 models. The LS/LT uses what we’ve come to call internally the “smiley face” fascia different from the fascias of the SS and ZL1 models. It features a unique dual, split-grille design, LED headlamps and an LED light bar with turn signals and daytime running lamps, which are rather attractive.

As we noted, the front fascia differs vastly from the SS, which in turn differs from ZL1 models. Meanwhile, the aggressive, black front splitter exclusive to the 2019 Camaro 1LE Turbo plays well with the new fascia, which we’re quite fond of.

The rear features a new rear fascia along, LED taillamps with clear lenses, and a dual exhaust. Notably, the Camaro 1LE Turbo does not offer dual-mode exhaust, which is only included with 3.6L V6 LGX engine.

Speaking of engines, the 2019 Camaro 1LE Turbo can be had with GM’s turbo-charged 2.0L I4 LTG engine making 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The boosted four banger is mated exclusively to a 6-speed automatic manual transmission without the Automatic Rev Matching, which only comes on the SS and ZL1 models.

Enjoy the gallery – as this particular Camaro model is most certainly a looker.

About Chevrolet Camaro

The Chevrolet Camaro is a family of sports cars that includes a two-door coupe and two-door soft-top convertible as well as various performance variants such as SS, 1LE, ZL1 and ZL1 1LE. The legendary nameplate was first introduced in 1966 and went out of production in 2002, when the model was in its fourth generation. The Camaro was re-introduced in 2009 as an all-new fifth-generation model based on the GM Zeta platform.

The Camaro is currently Chevrolet's most affordable sports car, slotting below the Chevrolet Corvette. The current model was introduced for the 2016 model year and represents the sixth generation of the Camaro nameplate. The model rides on the GM Alpha platform shared with the Cadillac ATS and Cadillac CTS, though the majority of the architecture underpinning the Camaro are unique to it.

The 2018 Chevy Camaro represents the third model year of the sixth-gen Camaro that deleted the Camaro 50th Anniversary Edition and the Krypton Green exterior color, while adding the ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package. There's also an expanded availability of the SS 1LE Track Performance Package, which is now available on the 2SS Coupe, as well as the addition of a washer fluid level sensor.

A midcycle refresh arrives for the 2019 model year that introduces new, model-specific front and rear styling, a new trim level structure for LT models that adds a new 3LT trim, and a new 1LE track performance package for the 2.0L Turbo LTG engine. The 2019 Camaro also brings the new GM 10-speed automatic transmission for SS models, the Rear Camera Mirror, third-generation infotainment systems, and various other enhancements.

The gen six Chevy Camaro is assembled for all markets by GM USA at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Lansing, Michigan, USA.

    1. It’s always been there for the LT models. On the SS it’s in the middle of the grille

    2. 275 massive? That’s minimum proper for that car.

  3. I’ve been watching used Camaro listings and noticed that once the new 2019 front end was revealed the number of availble used Camaros plummeted. Everyone snapped up the better looking used ones instead of buying new. Now used prices are going up.

    1. Oh COME ON.

That is a very weak analysis that doesn’t even quality as a “man says” example.

      1. I didn’t call it an “analysis,” I simply said I noticed that all the used 6th gen Camaros were snapped up after the 2019 models were revealed.

I’ve also talked to a few guys in meatspace who decided to buy used after they saw the Federal Disaster Zone that is the front of the 2019 Camaro SS. And have seen similar comments on internet forums.

Face it, the new refresh is butt-ugly. GM’s design has slipped over the past few years and it never was all that great to begin with. They need serious reform of their design studios if they are to compliment their engineering with designs of the same caliber. The ugly truth is that no matter how amazing a car is it will not sell if it’s ugly.
