Here’s our first detailed look at the 2019 Silverado RST as it was driving on the gorgeous roads of Wyoming during the Silverado media drive in August.
The Silverado RST, or Rally Sport Truck, is new for the 2019 model. Based on the mid-range LT trim level, the purpose of the RST is to offer a unique, street-performance appearance with the following features:
- A unique grille with body color bars and high gloss black mesh inserts
- Body-color trim
- Full LED lighting (foglamps, headlamps, and taillamps)
- 18-inch Bright Silver painted aluminum wheels, though customers can opt for wheels up to 22 inches in size
The model seen here is coated in the new Northsky Blue Metallic paint, which is a new color for the new Silverado. Notice the high-gloss black mirror caps and body-color door handles.
Typically, the 2019 Silverado RST comes with a single, side-facing exhaust outlet, but the new dual exhaust system can be had when ordering the Z71 Off-Road Package, which contains the following features:
- Off-road suspension
- Hill Descent Control
- Skid plates
- High-capacity air filter
- Z71 hard badge
Ordering the Z71 off-road package requires the Z82 trailering package, which includes a trailer hitch, 7-pin and 4-pin connectors and (CTT) Hitch Guidance. Opting for the trailering package also requires the G80 locking differential.
Note the CornerStep rear bumper, which has been improved for the 2019 model year.
The 2019 Silverado RST is offered with two engines. The base is the all-new turbo 2.7L I4 L3B making 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque is the base engine, while the optional up-level engine is the 5.3L L84 V8 rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The L84 is part of the second-generation EcoTec3 engine family and features the Dynamic Fuel Management technology, which enables the engine to operate in 17 different patterns between 2 and 8 cylinders, depending on demand, to optimize power delivery and efficiency.
Both motors are mated to the enhanced 8-speed automatic transmission (RPO code MQE). The gearbox includes overdrive, tow/haul mode, Cruise Grade Braking and Powertrain Grade Braking.

It would also look good with the Redline package on it too!
Dual Exhaust should come standard on the RST package.
Dual exhaust, larger wheels, 6.2L V8, and a regular cab/standard bed configuration!
Looks like a gussied up work truck.
Alex,
Isn’t the 3L Duramax Diesel an option on the RST?
I finally got to see the new Chevy yesterday. The local dealer had three in various trims in their back lot. I was not impressed with the front and rear styling at all, but that;’s just me.
Mine came with a leveling kit, aftermarket 20″ Fuel chrome wheels and Nitto tires.
