2019 Blazer Trim Levels Uncovered

GM Authority has uncovered the trim levels that Chevy will offer its all-new 2019 Blazer when it launches in the beginning of 2019.

In all, there will be a total of four general trim levels and seven specific ones, as follows:

  • L (1L0): includes 2.5L I4 LCV engine with FWD only and cloth seats (retail order types only)
  • Blazer, comprised of three LT-level trims:
    • 1LT: includes 2.5L I4 LCV engine with FWD only and cloth seats
    • 2LT: includes 3.6L V6 LGX engine with FWD or AWD and cloth seats
    • 3LT: includes 3.6L V6 LGX engine with FWD or AWD and leather seats
  • RS (1RS): includes 3.6L V6 LGX engine with FWD or AWD and leather seats
  • Premier (0HD): includes 3.6L V6 LGX engine with FWD or AWD and leather seats

Unique Configuration

Though the L trim level continues to represent the base model and the RS and Premier represent the two range-topping trims, the mid-level “Blazer” trim differs from other new Chevy product we’ve seen over the years.

The move is rather interesting, since the practice of obscuring a trim level with the name of the vehicle is typically reserved for base models. For instance, the base trim level for the Buick LaCrosse is simply referred to as “LaCrosse”. The same holds true for the Buick Regal Sportback, TourX, Encore, Envision, and Cascada; notably, the Enclave is an exception to this, with the base model carrying the “Preferred” designation.

In any event, Chevrolet’s decision to not make the LT trim forward-facing explains the lack of the LT badge on the hatch doors of final validation vehicles, such as the one pictured below.

It’s also worth noting that if one wants all-wheel-drive in their 2019 Blazer, then they will need to opt for the V6 six-pot, since the base 2.5L four-banger will only be offered in conjunction with FWD.

About 2019 Blazer

Chevrolet re-introduced the Blazer name for the 2019 model year as an all-new crossover utility vehicle (CUV). Based on the regular wheelbase version of the GM C1 platform shared with the GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5, the 2019 Blazer is a midsize crossover that slots between the compact Chevy Equinox and full-size Chevy Traverse.

The 2019 Blazer flaunts attention-grabbing design, seamlessly integrated customer-focused technologies and superb functionality, with the model range including the sporty Blazer RS and Blazer Premier trims. The new technology offered on the 2019 Blazer includes capless fuel fillHID headlights, LED daytime running lights, a Cargo Management system, and much more.

The midsize crossover will be made at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant and goes on sale in the spring of 2019, slotting between the compact Equinox and full-size Traverse.

  1. Just me or doesn’t LTZ sound better then premier? I know to the random person LTZ is confusing but spending 5 minutes looking at it’s pretty simple. LS LT LTZ and a 1,2,3 for each one with options. PREMIER just sounds so generic and can be used on a Honda to Toyota to about anything

    1. Yeah. They’ve jumbled the trim level structure and someone needs to come in and clean it up.

Premier was supposed to have replaced LTZ, which it did… but then the 2019 Silverado still has LTZ, with High Country slotting above it, while the Traverse has Premier and High Country together. It’s a mess.

      1. Simple way would be give every model a LS LT RS LTZ & High Country Trim. GMC has a pretty clean line up with SLE, ALL TERRAIN, SLT DENALI on almost every model I believe

      2. Ok, Alex thanks for putting out this info. Alex, do you know what models will be offering all the safety features such as forward collision alert, blind spot monitoring, rear vision camera, rear camera safety back up alarm, and the rest of the safety features ? Also, are we still looking at November to order and see the pricing ?

      3. Easy way would be to have the following for the Blazer. L, LS, LT, LT Plus, RS, and Premier.

      4. LTZ was held onto for the Silverado because of the brand equity in it. Same is with the Colorado. It’s being kept as a truck only trim name. Not for cars or SUV’s

    2. Too bad it is made in Mexico. Can’t see buying one because of that because our country needs help to retain and promote good paying jobs and support our communities now more than ever.

      1. At least it’s not made in a 3rd rate nation like Bangladesh or Canada.

        1. 3rd rate? I had surgery last month and guess what I paid, 33 bucks for painkillers. Hope the Americans enjoy their healthcare:)

  2. Glad the RS isn’t a slower 4 cylinder model like the Traverse.

    1. GM has since changed this with the 2019 Traverse and is available with AWD/V6.

  3. Alex, any idea on when we’ll see actual dimension specs? Interested to know how “midsize” this new Blazer actually is. I’m hoping it’s closer in length to the new Acadia at almost 194″ than the XT5 at almost 190″.

  4. LTZ is better than Premier and BLAZER should not be on this vehicle.

  7. Why in heavens name Chevy do we have to step up to the 2LT just to get an AWD version? You people are idiots at some things I believe.

  8. I keep looking at the new Blazer, and am trying to figure out how it is a Blazer except in name only? Looks like any other CUV/SUV. Just saying. I guess Chevrolet is hoping to cash in on nostalgia for the iconic name. PS: I prefer cars over by far over CUV/SUVs.

  9. How about a RWD option? 😉

  10. Ok so where is the list of what the RS package and Premier package includes? I assume you cannot get an RS Premier?
