This Fifth-Gen Camaro Shooting Brake Is The Unicorn Of Camaros

The fellas at Jalopnik recently shared photos of what may be the only fifth-gen Chevrolet Camaro shooting brake in existence. To our pleasant surprise we think it looks quite handsome, though we certainly don’t expect everyone to agree.

The images were captured as the crew was returning from this year’s Woodward Dream Cruise, so it’s curious that photos of this unicorn haven’t surfaced any sooner.

It would seem that the model was inspired by the classic Chevrolet Nomad wagon sold by Chevy back in the 1950s and ’60s. Though intrigued by the idea, we would never expect Chevrolet to actually bring something like it to production. But hey, that’s what the aftermarket is for.

And though the looks may not be everyone’s cup of tea, we think most would agree that it would be great for GM to offer another performance-oriented wagon, like the beloved CTS-V wagon of yore.

In any case, vote in the poll below and share us your thoughts on this creation in the comments.

  1. While it is not everyone’s cup of tea it may fill a niche for those with a family with which a standard bodied Camaro is not an option. Dodge did it with the Magnum which obviously doesn’t exist today but I can’t tell you how many times I wish I had one when I needed it rather than an SUV, CUV, minivan, etc, when I can’t have a truck in a condo.

  2. See, how come GM can’t do stuff like this anymore this, this is a perfect car for city dwellers who want utility and sport. They too busy trying to sell to goat-boogerers SUV/pickups and candy-ass CUVs.

  3. If the design allowed them to push the rear seat back about 6″ and make rear legroom livable, then I’d be all over it.

    1. Wait, then it would be a Chevrolet (Kia) Stinger Kammback:)

  4. I saw this car yesterday on my way home from work! Pretty cool, but I didn’t realize it was a one off at the time. It didn’t look too bad in person either.

  6. The Dodge Magnum did quite well. A bit of retro chopped look, looked fast and a cool modern station wagon.

  7. I think it actually works aesthetically, as the back now matches the front.

  8. Where do I Sign Up??
It Is Cool…The Chevy Nomad SS, with your choice of V-8 performance, in either the 5.3, or the 6.2 ☺️ I’ll go with the 6.2 thank you, like I have in my Silverado. Offer it with both manual, and paddle shift automatic, Leather bucket seats in the front, SS Rims, and some custom colors, and I’m in…
The non SS version, would be available in 4 and 6 cylinder versions, with its own special editions, and options…I see this as a Nomad that would appeal to many different types of buyers, for several different reasons. I’d go for a high performance, touring edition, offering power, and comfort, in a bold color, with chrome 20 inch rims…power amenities standard.
Sporty, fun, functional, and can be tailored to several different types of buyers…just one thing, please don’t offer it in a stripped down, or rental version.

  9. Now we need an El Camino!

    1. When the El Camino was popular it was when PU trucks were trucks. Wasn’t cool to pick up your date in a truck but the El Camino was cool. Now trucks are as glamorous as cars. Fit and finish, creature comforts, low noise cabins, carpeted floors, leather and nice music systems.

    2. Lol, hell yes! Just think of it, an RS, SS, ZL1, with a 5.3l or 6.2l N/A, supercharged option. Epic and iconic return. Now include a hard tonneau cover with spoiler for downforce.

  10. We need our wagons back!

  11. A beauty ! This is what the public really wants, not another (yawn) suv or cross over vehicle, and with the new 4 cylinder turbo power plant / engine that the Silverado will get that could find it’s way into a car like that it can only get better. An if you think wagons don’t sell … well don’t tell Mercedes, BMW, VW among others about that. And another wagon fact The former Cadillac sports wagons (if you can find one) in some places are selling for more than when new.
