Feast your eyes on what we initially believe to be the very first spy pictures of the next-generation, 2020 Chevy Trax. Having published this article, we have since learned that the model is actually not the Chevy Trax, but is instead an upcoming subcompact GMC crossover. We have also caught up to the real 2020 Chevy Trax since then, and have those photos available for you as well.
Check out both at these links:
Both the 2020 Chevy Trax, 2020 GMC Granite, and the 2020 Buick Encore, are expected to ride on a new GM Vehicle Set. The trio might be the first two vehicles that launch General Motors’ Vehicle Set Strategy. Which Vehicle Set sits under this model is unclear, but it’s either VSS-S (for SUVs) for VSS-F (for front-drive models).
Expect a launch within the next 16-24 months for all three models, just in time to satisfy those crossover-hungry customers.

Much better proportions than the current model. It’s shaping up nicely!
ugh… could the nose hang out over the front wheels any further?
The nose will be shorter than it looks here. Much padding has been applied.
Reference the Blazer before and after.
Another one made in Mexico, while Lordstown losing jobs.
Not enough volume for Lordstown. They want and need more volumeon a higher profit model.
They will be rewarded but it can not happen over night.
It will be made in South Korea.
Hmm, interesting. Was expecting a more aggressive body styling in keeping with the younger buyer, but they seem to have gone for a more orthodox look.
Exactly. Another big bulbous front end. Boo!
Suspicions confirmed. NOT the upcoming Trax. Thanks Alex Luft for the correction. Any new Trax would have a more aggressive body style than this.
Really amazing.Thank you very much for sharing.Interested in hearing updates from you
Boring!
Curious to see the new PSA Mokkav and then compare with Encore ashes Trax.
I drove a Trax and I couldn’t believe how underpowered it was. Such a missed opportunity to make a nimble and sporty CUV.
GM should drop in the 2.0T for sporty AWD version.
The updated 1.4 available in the Encore is a huge improvement over the old motor of the same displacement – makes no sense to me why they don’t just go with one motor and choose the good one.
Yeah, that GDI 1.4T LE2 would be a nice entry level engine on GM’s small cars. The GDI 1.5T LFV/LYX need to be more prevalent as an upgrade option for entry level cars, IMO, possibly even the 2.0T as a performance option. Nobody likes underpowered cars and it’s unwise for GM to intentionally gimp their low end cars in the hope that they’ll force buyers into expensive Buicks and Cadillacs. All the gimp strategy does is force buyers into competitor products and tell all their friends that GM’s cars are underpowered.
GM is a pseudonym for missed opportunity.
Sure, General Motors makes money but ever Chevrolet is dumbed down for GMC and Buick.
There are few GM buyers anymore. Sloan’s ladder is dead. Let the GM brands all build great vehicles with design and marketing using each brand for specific demos.
Chevrolet offers underpowered low content autos at a premium. This won’t work forever.
It is amazing to heard such kind of things.
This is definitely a Chevrolet and not a GMC. There is a more revealing spy pic floating around the internet to support this. So that means the other vehicle that you believe is a Chevrolet is actually the GMC . . . or maybe it’s a DIFFERENT Chevrolet SUV.
Really amazing.Thank you very much for sharing.
