Chevrolet is making its lauded 6.2L V8 engine more widely available in the Tahoe and Suburban full-size SUVs with new, special-edition versions of each model. New for 2019, the Chevrolet Tahoe Premier Plus and Chevrolet Suburban Premier Plus pair the capable 6.2L powerplant with a Hydra-Matic ten-speed automatic transmission, and feature Magnetic Ride Control adaptive dampers calibrated for maximum performance.
Previously, GM’s 6.2L V8 was only available in the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban lines on RST models with the optional Performance Package, but the RST’s menacing, blacked-out appearance isn’t for everyone. So, the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban Premier Plus models will feature classic gold bowtie emblems, chrome nameplate badging, and new polished 22-inch wheels. The interior is unique to these models, boasting with heated/ventilated Black-and-Mahogany leather front seats, Jet Black trim surround, a head-up display, and an eight-inch cluster. The exterior features standard cross rails, chrome power steps, and chrome exhaust tips.
An Abundance Of Torque
In the new Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban Premier Plus editions, the available 6.2L V8 is tuned to deliver up to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. At the same time, direct injection, variable valve timing, and Active Fuel Management are all leveraged to deliver tremendous efficiency, which is further helped by the ten-speed Hydra-Matic transmission and its 7.39 total gear ratio spread.
“Our customers have shown strong demand for both Tahoe and Suburban with the 6.2L V8 option,” says GM’s Director of Chevrolet Trucks Marketing and Advertising, Sandor Piszar. “Thirty-six percent of all Chevy full-size SUV special edition models are now sold with this engine. Premier Plus gives both Suburban and Tahoe customers another option to choose from with several added premium touches.”
The 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe Premier Plus and Chevrolet Suburban Premier Plus are available to order now, with slated to start in mid-August. Pricing for the Tahoe Premier Plus will start at $74,100, and the Suburban Premiere Plus at $76,900, both prices before $1,295 destination fee.

Suburban “Premiere” Plus at $76,900?
very interesting blog with awesome collection of articles.Thank you very much
How many more options could you add to something marketed as “Premier(e) Plus”?? Shouldn’t it be (all) the ‘premium’ options, ‘plus’ a few extras??
Then this:
‘Tahoe Premier Plus will start at $74,100, and the Suburban Premiere Plus at $76,900’ – the key here is “start at” in the prices…. and then…. and then…
GM. Sheesh.
Agreed. While it’s good business (if the customer will pay) all they are doing is swapping readily available components around. There is no inherent increase in effort or cost for GM to install the 6.2 in either truck, never-mind the magnetic shocks, or the interior options.
Minus 10-15grand and I’d think it was a fare price, but STARTING at $74-76 thousand – GTFOH!
$74,100 sounds like a fair price for Tahoe. If it comes with an LT5.
Just wait for the 20%-25% off sale.
