Jay Leno Showcases Captain America’s 1967 Chevrolet Camaro: Video

It’s not just Iron Man that has an awesome taste in cars. On an upcoming episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, the highlight is on Chris Evans, or better known as Captain America, and his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro.

As a result of Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) teaming up with SpeedKore Performance Group, this simple and clean first generation Camaro build was actually a gift. In the third Avenger’s movie, Downey Jr. had the car shipped to where they were filming and gave the car to Chris Evans on set. The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro is painted Grigio Verde, or “melted army man green” and features a lavish two-tone leather interior with Captain Americas Logo embedded onto the steering wheel.

Besides the one-of-a-kind paint job, subtle things are done to the body making it a custom Camaro but still keeps the sexy lines that make the car great in the first place. Downey Jr. and the guys from SpeedKore wanted to keep the heritage look and feel of the first-gen Camaro in this build. Great call in our opinion.

Under the hood lies an LS3 engine complimented with a Whipple 2.9L supercharger pushing 12 lbs of boost. Together, they produce around 730hp and 580 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. For it being Captain America’s first build, he sure got a clean one.

Check out the full details and story of this car in the new episode of Jay Leno’s Garage this Thursday, August 30th at 10PM on CNBC. You may even get to see Captain America rip a couple of burnouts.
