Corvette C8.R Spied Again, This Time With More Detail: Photo Gallery

Just yesterday, we brought you the very first pictures of the Corvette C8.R and then showed you how the beastly racer sounds. Today, our spy shooter found the race car while it was doing hot laps at the Road America track in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin and snapped the most detailed pictures of the racer to date.

Despite the vast amounts of swirly camo and various aero components that won’t make it to production, the photos give us our best look yet at the mid-engine Corvette, since this model features significantly less camouflage than the road-going prototypes we’ve seen previously.

We have reason to believe that the production version of the mid-engine Corvette will debut at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. In the meantime, these photos and more Corvette news will have to tide us over.

  1. A real F22 vibe to me. That is a good thing.

I like how the scoop in the side turned out.

    1. Holy mother of…

Side air intake looks good. Corvette DNA in the front hood and headlights…rear end too somewhat.

These beats will be sold out way before it is officially unveiled. The competition has been put on notice!

    2. I’m with you scott on the side scoops giving an F22 vibe. This thing looks BAD ASS! Once the 1000HP hybrid Zora arrives we will need pressure suits!

Benchmark for the C8? World Dominance!

  3. I really like it but I also really hope the classic front-engine, RWD formula Corvette continues on as well. It would be great to have a two-tier lineup continue on indefinitely.

  4. If you think the side windows on the Camaro are small….

  7. Gives all other super car players something to worry about.

Looking at Corvette as more of a sub -brand to Chevy, the Stingray should continue as this new C8 is added, then at some point a high powered crossover could also be added to the Corvette lineup, with a sports type of roof line.

    1. Chevrolet is Corvette… The Corvette was, is and always will be Genuine Chevrolet. No fake ‘brands’ here.

  9. Pretty sure the low slung rear diffuser and the hood mounted pitot tubes won’t see production. I think a great way to honor the out going C7 would be to make a pint sized version, ala solstice, but this time do it right, and hell, might as well add plug in variant to the wish list.

  11. This is the GT class race car folks, not the street car. If I am wrong then, holy s—!

    1. Yes you’re correct, BUT the GT car resembles most of the body lines and what that physical shape of the “street” car looks like. I cant wait!

  12. Chevrolet’s C8.R Corvette looks like it’s ready for 24 Hours of Le Mans as one can already imagine posters of the new C8 Corvette on the bedroom walls of teenage boys.
