Buick revealed the latest addition to its Avenir sub-brand, the 2019 Regal Avenir, Tuesday evening, but don’t expect the badge to reach other Regal variants.
Buick told GM Authority it has no plans to offer a Regal TourX Avenir or Regal GS Avenir. The latter is understandable; the GS sits as its own variant with an exclusive 3.6-liter LGX V6 engine and sporting intentions. The lack of a TourX Avenir variant is a bit perplexing.
Instead, the luxurious goodies will be kept to the Regal Sportback sedan. The Avenir model will boast exterior enhancements such as a 3D mesh grille, 19-inch wheels, and unique badging, while the cockpit receives a Whisper Beige motif with Ebony accents. Diamond quilted leather seats and embroidered Avenir headrests are also part of the package. The Regal Avenir is also the first Buick to gain the brand’s new cloud-based infotainment system.
We don’t have pricing for the Avenir model just yet, but expect it to start a couple thousand dollars more than the current range-topping trim, but under the Regal GS.

Buick decisions are “Perplexing” indeed. Hard to figure that the Tourx, a car that has received praise for most things, however, resounding criticism for its interior, did not get the go ahead for the Avenir upgrade. Too bad because I had it on my list if the interior improvements were going to be offered. The Regal Avenir would have been a winner if it had received a V6 and all wheel drive. Otherwise it is just a Regal with some cosmetic changes and a new infotainment system. I will look at it when it comes out, maybe even test drive it but not a fan of 4 cylinders. Do you all ever get the feeling they have forgotten about the American customer because they have China? I do.
Don’t knock it too much till you’ve tried it. All TourX models have all wheel drive, and the Essence is very nice inside (it’s an upscale Buick, after all). AND it’s a Turbo, so the 4 cylinders give quite a punch.
More leather in the interior and the V6 engine with all-wheel is absolutely necessary! Remember that the customer decides which car to buy.
so buy a GS and an avenir and put the V6 and 4wd on the avenir…
then move the heads up dispay to the avenir and you’ve got a real winner!
