We’ve shared all sorts of photos of the all-new Silverado, but we haven’t yet shown you pictures of the 2019 Silverado Custom – which is exactly what we have for you today.
We took the pix during the media drive of the all-new Silverado earlier this month in Wyoming, which we attended – and have (so far) brought you the handling evaluation as well as the towing review of the new truck. Now, on to the Silverado Custom.
The trim level, assigned equipment group code 1CX, is based on the base Silverado work truck, while featuring a body-color styling theme, 20-inch painted aluminum wheels, LED signature taillamps and available integrated dual exhaust. The model seen here is coated in the Summit White exterior color.
Up front is a custom (no pun intended) grille comprised of body color bars with black mesh inserts. The treatment is unique to the 2019 Silverado Custom. A bold CHEVROLET insignia is written across the front end, with a small gold Chevy bow tie positioned below the T. The Custom trim’s biggest draw are the unique grille and body-color bumpers, which look great here.
The dual-tier headlamps are of the halogen reflector variety, with halogen Daytime Running Lamps. The Silverado WT and Custom TrailBoss also get the same units. The Silverado-exclusive front air curtains are clearly visible here, as well. Also note the outside heated and power-adjustable mirrors with black mirror caps.
The clean white look continues on the side, with the large 20-inch Bright Silver painted aluminum wheels (RPO code NZP) filling out the round wheel wells quite nicely. Notice the black door handles and rectangular assist steps. Given that we running boards don’t come with the 2019 Silverado Custom, we believe these to be LPO-level units assigned production code RVQ.
The large box of this truck does not feature a bedliner, but a Chevytec spray-on bedliner is available. Notably, the bed seen here is the biggest in its segment, which Chevy is notably proud of.
The rear end features the stamped CHEVROLET insignia on the tailgate, which can come in one of two varieties: the standard unit is the manual tailgate with no lift assist, while the optional one is the manual tailgate with lift assist and power lock and release. The latter is only available with the Custom Convenience Package (PCX). This model is equipped with the upgraded tailgate, as evidenced by the LED cargo area lighting that’s part of the PCX package, which also includes Remote Start, content theft alarm and rear-window defogger.
The 2019 Silverado custom features LED signature taillamps. Notably, the same units are also standard on the Silverado Custom TrailBoss, RST, LT TrailBoss, LTZ and High Country. Just like in the front, the rear bumper is body-color and features the improved CornerStep functionality. The area with the integrated tailgate handle includes the lens for the rear view camera, which is standard on all 2019 Silverado models.
The Custom also offers the option of the integrated dual exhaust setup, but this particular model is not so equipped, instead sticking with the single passenger-side-exhaust.
Under the hood can be one of two gasoline engines:
- The 4.3L V6 LV3 making 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque is standard
- The 5.3L V8 L82 making 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque is optional
Both motors are mated exclusively to the electronically-controlled 6-speed automatic transmission (MYC) with overdrive and tow/haul mode, including Cruise Grade Braking and Powertrain Grade Braking. An electronic, single-speed Autotrac transfer case is included when 4WD is ordered.
We should note that the Silverado Custom exists at the opposite end of the Custom spectrum from the Silverado Custom TrailBoss (see pictures here), which is also based on the Work Truck model but with a focus on off-road performance.

Looks good, just the Bowtie offset on the front grill looks a little odd.
I hope it’s easy to removed. Once you notice it, it really looks odd. I don’t recalled any other Chevrolet’s with offset bowties like this.
Those 73-79(?) GM C/K Trucks had the engine displacement in that area.
The offset bow tie is a new design trend for the 2019 T1s with the CHEVROLET spelled out on the grille. It looks pretty good in person.
The Bow Tie is there to draw more awareness that CHEVROLET = Bow Tie. Might not seem like a big deal in the ranks of car guys like ourselves, but happens quite often among those who don’t live and breathe this on the daily.
Does the tailgate to this 2019 fit on a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 custom
Could place a decal on the front of the hood.
Just curious, you mentioned a single speed transfercase? Is 4×4 low-range really not available or is that a typo? I would hope you can get a traditional 2 speed transfercase like the current trucks!
i believe there are two to choose from. The version here and then a standard 2 speed like always but i think the higher take rate configurations get the single speed TOD. Not 100% on this info but i think i remember reading that in another article.
That’s crazy! You have to have Low Range in a work truck! Why do they have people making decisions who have never used a pickup? Same with last year, when you could get the Z71 Off Road package on a luxo-grocery-getter that would never get any further off road than a paved parking lot, but you couldn’t get it on a work truck that would regularly be in timber, farm fields, construction sites and deep snow!
2 speed is in Z71 trucks or 6.2 trucks. Z71 is available in all trim levels.
I prefer the front end styling of this one over all of the other trim levels, much cleaner and not so overdone.
The Custom package (with Custom Value Package) is just well enough equipped that it could be very popular? Problem is it could be hard to find? GM typically builds mostly LT and above and then discounts them down so far it limits the appeal of the lower trim like the Custom.
Very nice. I think the Custom trim will be a popular option, a lot of potential buyers like the front end. Also there is a Custom TrailBoss trim, which is a nice touch from GM.
Any pictures of the interior? If I were to get a new Silverado It would most likely be the custom.
Not yet, but we will have some shortly.

I love the overall exterior design of the All New Silverado but man those Headlights look Cheaaaaaaaap. WOW
I’d like the custom grille on the LT Trail Boss. Heck, I’d like the custom grille on the high country. But alas… the only way to do that is to buy a custom grille and install it.
You know I never usually comment online. But WHERE ARE THE INTERIOR PICTURES. It’s reallg bugging me I haven’t seen a W/T interior.
HERE ARE THE INTERIOR PICTURES:

ENJOY!!!
Where are the interior pictures!??!
This is the nicest looking version (except for that goofy bowtie location). Wish the LTZ was available in this style.
I’m liking what Chevrolet is doing here. I’m a huge fan of LED lighting offered from the manufacturer & GM has done well w/offering LED taillamps across the board except for the LT model. However, I wish they’d kept the ongoing theme of offering the minimal of HID Headlighting standard across the board as they did w/the 2016-2019 LD Silverado’s. I’ve been on the fence about this truck, but now the more I see it the more it’s growing on me.
By far the best looking exterior on the 2019’s I have seen. The grill looks awesome with the Chevrolet script and I think the Bowtie placement will grow on people.
The custom my favorite 2019 the other models are ugly as hell. I just wish they would of added the 8 speed transmission and the new motor on custom one’s so I can get one.
