2019 Sierra Does Not Offer A Power Tailgate Option

A few days ago, we told you that it’s possible to choose a traditional tailgate over the new MultiPro tailgate on the 2019 Sierra. Today, we’re following up with another rather important detail: those who opt for a regular tailgate instead of the MultiPro will have to settle for a manually-operated unit.

That’s because a power-operated liftgate is not offered on the 2019 Sierra. By comparison, the 2019 Silverado offers a power-operated tailgate (assigned RPO Code QT6).

Mark this as another key difference between the all-new T1 platform 2019 Sierra and Silverado. Other notable differences include the very obvious exterior design as well as the fact that the 2019 Sierra offers a carbon fiber bed, the acrobatic MultiPro tailgate and Adaptive Ride Control. The 2019 Silverado does not offer any of these features.

It can be replaced with a traditional manual tailgate (RPO Code QK1). Meanwhile, the following 2019 Sierra 1500 models are equipped with a manual tailgate that is not upgradeable to the MultiPro:

  1. That just makes no sense. GMC should offer everything that Chevy does then some.

    1. All features will cross to both trucks eventually. It’s just something to differentiate them at launch.

      1. That’s the going rumor/expectation, yes.

However, there is nothing concrete (yet) to confirm this or even expect it, even after interviewing the people around both trucks and the central GM management.
