Following Mil-Spec’s H1 Launch Edition SUV, the Detroit, Michigan-based company has a second H1 revival model in the works.
It’s fittingly called the Second Edition H1, and this Humvee boasts an enclosed cabin with a slant-back roof. The first model will feature an open-back design, but both models will share all of the company’s improvements on the rugged off-road SUV. Mil-Spec said nearly every option offered on the Launch Edition will feature on the Second Edition.
It begins with a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8, which delivers 500 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque. The mill is paired with an Allison six-speed transmission that sends power to all four wheels, and the SUV will scoot from 0-60 mph in just 6.8 seconds. Then, Mil-Spec remanufactures and powder coats the chassis, and covers the exterior in matte Kevlar-coated body. Inside, things are modernized with aluminum, leather, duck canvas, and waterproof vinyl mesh.
It’s unclear how the enclosed cockpit will arrange things for passengers, but we happen to think the slant-back roof looks even better than the Launch Edition H1. We’ll have more details on the SUV in the coming weeks.
