GM Teases ‘Look Into The Future’ On Instagram

General Motors has something it wants to show its Instagram followers on Saturday after the automaker said it will provide a “look into the future.”

The IG post features a cropped shot of an unnamed concept car that the automaker asked fans to guess. But, we know it’s the 1992 Ultralite concept vehicle.

The concept’s goal was to envision a car capable of achieving 100 mpg. The EPA officially rated the concept at 88 mpg, but GM said 100 mpg was possible at a constant cruising speed of 50 mph. The car featured a carbon-fiber body shell, gullwing doors and a slippery drag coefficient of just 0.19. Total weight tipped the scale at 1,400 pounds.

Why GM reached back into its archives to tease a 26-year-old concept is a mystery, but the automaker told fans to check back in at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday for a glimpse into the future. Stay tuned.
