Corvette Forum Members Got A Sneak Peek At Motor Trend’s Best Driver’s Car Competition

It’s Motor Trend’s Best Driver’s Car competition season, and this year, the most powerful Corvette to ever leave the factory was invited. The 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 was on hand at Laguna Seca raceway for testing, but so were two other special guests.

Two Corvette Forum members, “skank” and “Corvette_Nut,” got a sneak peek at testing on the track. But, both were told to keep quiet about results until the publication is ready to share their findings. We did learn MT has two Corvette ZR1s present: a low-wing and high-wing model with the ZTK performance package.

Chevrolet also sent a Corvette engineering, a mechanic and a marketing rep to support the world-beating Corvette in its BDC outing. The high-wing car was used for hot laps on Laguna Seca as well.

We’ll have to stay tuned to see how the Corvette ZR1 manages in the competition, but it’s facing some serious competition. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS, McLaren 720S and others are also vying for the crown.

  1. This comparison was a joke. 1st: the Corvette was delivered with worn out Michelins, admitted by Motor Trend. Probably the reason the ZR1 was almost a full second behind the Porsche in o to 60 times.

2nd: The Porsche cost over twice as much as the Corvette $340,000+ to the Corvette’s $149,000+…what the hell kind of a comparison is this ?

The ZR1 test in Automobile magazine faired much better. The 0 to 60 times was 2.85.

Plus….I really love the quotes…”Coming into turn one the car was beyond 150 mph, still accelerating hard as entered the brake zone.I pushed the stop pedal hard, and the ZR1 dutifully spit my eyeballs out of my head”……”Why on earth would anyone want a self driving Corvette? That would be like having a self kissing girlfriend”…….

  2. I’ve asked this question before and nobody wants to answer it, do you compare cars based on power and options or based on price of car?

    1. Who’s doing the comparing? Joe Blow? Motor Trend? Jay Leno?

Cars are typically compared by type/category: Sports car, Sedan, SUV, etc.. Find two cars in the same segment, with similar price points, similar performance specs, etc. and let them duke it out.

You can’t group vehicles together based on price and put them head-to-head. For example, you wouldn’t test a $500k Bentley against a $500k Ferrari. One is a land yacht and the other is an Italian Thoroughbred.

  3. In the event that you have a huge gathering of people to contact with SMS, sorting out your database is the most essential assignment. Division assumes a critical job in advertising. At that point, you have to search out a quality mass texting service with a worldwide reach and since it would be your first time, run for one with the most minimal costs and greatest highlights.
