‘The Grand Tour’ Spied Filming In Detroit With American Muscle Cars

“The Grand Tour” has descended upon Detroit, Michigan, for season three of the Amazon Prime-exclusive show. Fittingly, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond climbed behind the wheel of three American muscle cars.

Per the video above, May was tasked with handling Hennessey Performance Engineering’s Exorcist Camaro ZL1, Clarkson piloted a Ford Mustang RTR and Hammond, naturally, found his way behind the wheel of a Dodge Challenger Demon.

Clearly, the episode will focus on Motor City and three historic nameplates tied to the American automakers. Though, two models come with aftermarket help: the Exorcist Camaro and Mustang RTR. The Dodge Demon is the only factory muscle car present here, though the Exorcist Camaro outguns it with 1,000 horsepower.

The video above shows the three filming in their respective rides, but we’ll have to wait until season three to see what the trio has planned in Detroit.

  1. Sadly, much of the backdrop will likely feature depressed areas throughout the Detroit area. We get it, the city has gone through some very difficult times, but there is an amazing concentration of beautiful architecture there as well as areas experiencing a rebirth. I find those guys to be very entertaining, but they do have a penchant for focusing on our flaws.

  2. Detroit is becoming a modern ghost town as it’s about 4X the size of San Francisco yet according to census data from 2016 has a population that is almost 200,000 smaller because the industry which Detroit was founded is disappearing and why the average home value in Detroit is about $54,000 compared with the $1.3M for San Francisco and unless there’s some type of reversal, things in Detroit will only get worst.
