iRacing, a subscription-based racing simulator, has officially added the Belle Isle track to its roster of racing courses. And the track came with a rather cheeky trailer.
The video, posted to the game’s official Facebook page, shows an IndyCar rotating and beginning to lose control at turn two of the Belle Isle course. Not so coincidentally, it’s the exact turn where GM product chief, Mark Reuss, lost control of the 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 pace car at this past weekend’s Detroit Grand Prix.
As the car spins out in slow motion, the trailer reads, “It’s harder than it looks.” iRacing is notorious for being incredibly realistic in the way cars behave on the track, and how they respond to various surfaces.
Reuss has since offered an apologetic statement following the wreck. Thankfully, no one was injured in the crash, though the day’s race was delayed by 30 minutes after the wreck occurred.
The track officially joined the roster yesterday, June 5, and is available for racing now.
