General Motors investors could be in for a treat if one analyst’s viewpoint pans out as described. Christopher Susanin of Levin Capital Strategies told CNBC that GM shares are poised to double in as few as two years.
Today, GM stock hovers around $43 per share, but Susanin said $75 per share doesn’t seem unlikely. He broke down a few areas where GM could add billions of dollars in value to the company.
The first is the restructuring of GM Korea, which the analyst sees as adding $10 per share to the current figure. The move could add a “couple billion” to GM’s profit. Secondly is Cadillac. If the automaker’s luxury brand can carry out initiatives to boost sales and profits, Susanin believes it will add another $10 to the share price.
Finally, self-driving cars and other GM businesses may add another $10 to the share price. The other businesses include GM Financial, OnStar, Cruise Automation and others. The analyst also factored in major growth in Asian markets.
On the self-driving car front, SoftBank announced last week that it would invest billions into GM Cruise. The investment should help GM commercialize self-driving car services next year.
Not everyone is as bullish on GM stock, however. Jamie Albertine, managing partner and automotive analyst at Consumer Edge Research, said investors have known about many of GM’s future plans and business models for some time and it hasn’t shifted the market quite yet.
“To see it double in two years, we think it’s low probability,” he said. “It’ll take more like five to seven years for this to play out, in our view.”

You know whats really telling about this site and its s**t posters, here is a positive article about GM, its been up all day and this is the first comment on it, yet there are 20 little girls on the Cruze thread crying about the deletion of the automatic tampon removers and cryiing that the Corolla had diamond plated door handles.
90% of the commentators on this site just plain suck, all they do is constantly b**h about every single move GM does, GM could cure cancer and bring back their favorite dead pet back to life and they would stil s**t all over it.
Why are you here? If GM sucks so badly, if they can’t do anything right and if they are a company that is run by total idiots( all of those idiots made millions, why most of the posters here probably can barely hold on to a McJob) and if the company is sooooo poorly run that all it can do it make billions per year, then go the f**K somewhere else, surely you can find another company worthy of your fandom, why are you wasting your time here with this terrible company run by idiots that only makes sh**ty cars that no one wants to buy???? Why???? Why are you wasting your time??
Some might do it because they enjoy annoying you. Just a hunch.
Well Mr.R, this is my story. I am a GM guy 50 years old, driving GM 34 years. The main reason there are so so so many people on all the sites including this one venting about GM is because of how GM has disconnected themselves form there vehicles. Monday I went to the garage to change oil in our 2014 Cadillac ATS with 36975 miles. The CUE screen is shattered, GM will do nothing and there are tens of thousands freezing or shattering. Our rear differential is also leaking, GM will do nothing. AS far as your GM making billions, its easier to make billions after bankruptcy, and erasing debt. GM was once the largest automaker in the world, do you have an excuse as to why they are not any more, after all you say they are brilliant and can do no wrong. Now I don’t know you any more than you know me, so I wont assume you are a lazy couch bum living in your mothers basement and driving her Cadillac. And I will tell you I make plenty of money to pay cash for any vehicle GM owns or makes. I am a GM guy I own a 1958 270 HP Corvette, 1968 Camaro, 2014 Cadillac ATS, 2015 GMC Canyon, 2017 GMC Denali Duramax HD. All of these last 3 vehicles are the lowest quality cheapest made highest cost GM vehicles I have owned relative to the time and competition. I am glad they are trying to convince us there are better vehicles to come, because if this is, what we own now is the best they have to offer. I will soon be driving an Audi sedan and a Toyota pickup. You will then get your way and you wont have to listen to me vent on the TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD VERY VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE , and QUALITY AT GM. Also why are you here? In your own words, go the f**k somewhere else. WHY???? Why are you wasting your time here????
Counterpoint, too bad your cars have sucked, if any of this is even true….. I have a 05 G6, 12 Camaro and a 17 Malibu and they have all been great cars, plus the other GM cars I have bought for years have also been great cars, I old GM cars, 7 of them congrats, I hope you enjoy your super “reliable” Audi. LOLOLOL. Bye now.
Mr.R,
All of my GM vehicles have NOT sucked, and I haven’t always been treated by GM like they don’t care. In fact our 2004 Cadillac CTS we drove from 400 to 145,000 miles and it was to the dealership once for a clock spring in the steering wheel. Our 2007 Silverado Classic 2500HD Duramax was 46 to 140,000 miles and it was to the dealer once for leaking transmission lines. So 10 to 13 years and 140,000 + miles great vehicles. Also EVERY GM PERSON AND DEALER CARED. Now our 2015 canyon had recalls and shifts terrible, been to the dealership twice, treated like not again and only 20,000 miles now. 2014 Cadillac ATS recall, rear end vibration, rear end leak, broken rims, and shattered CUE screen 36,975 miles now. 2017 GMC Denali HD Duramax, rear wheel bearing could come loose ” customer satisfaction service”, wrong seatbelt bar ” customer satisfaction service”, emission recall, faulty gas cap, 5,800 miles now. ALL-ALL-ALL the dealerships I have called and visited about these issues seem to me are SO-SO frustrated about GM and GM customer service and quality. I will give you the VIN numbers and you can have it checked out and see I am telling the truth. I have bought 2 Chevy Cobalts for my son, great cars first one 268,000 miles, only throttle body. Now newer one 98,000 miles no troubles so far. So a CHEAP Chevy Cobalt great, but a $46,000 Cadillac ATS troubles and GM will do NOTHING, and a $70,000 GMC Denali HD has had more repairs also so far at only 5,000 GM if still fixing them and all it costs me is lost vehicle usage, trips to the dealer, wasted production time dealing with GM and GM dealers.
Now you are one of those people who have said LOLOLOL go buy one of those other brands and you will see. I actually has a GMC dealer tell me go buy a ford then you will see. My answer to that WHAT. They told my father in laws fishing buddy that who always drove GM, he is now on his third NEW Ford F150. still drives a Buick car but was trying a Lincoln last I knew. They told my uncle that, he just ordered his fourth NEW RAM truck, and a Mercedes car. They told my sister that who drove a hummer and Silverado trucks, now F250s and Lincoln Navigators, yes 3 NEW F250s and 2 Navigators, 1 Lincoln MKX. That is what they told my cousin, now 2 Toyota Tundra trucks and 2 Audi cars 1 Q6 now Q7, all NEW.
You are simply wrong. GM should FIX ALL the cars on the road with problems that are known to them, like shattered CUE screens, leaky rear ends, rear end wheel bearings coming loose, at least on $50 to $70 thousand dollar vehicles. HOW do they expect to sell a Cadillac owner a NEW Cadillac when they don’t fix the one they drive now. “O” that’s right the new ones will be better trust us. Trust goes both ways.
Now if you have time to get off your moms couch and come to South Dakota, I will personally take you to meet each and every one of these people and see what they drive. We will go visit the dealers who sell Ford and GM and share employees. How about a trip to the Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes dealer. I will have fun driving my NEW Audi, and Cadillac will just continue to slip away. SAD. Bye now.
Update for Mr.R, I will make this simple. Today we went shopping, 1st stop Audi. A4 do be exact, this car is SO-SO-SO much more car than our ATS it is simply SAD. Same 2.0T AWD, more power, more comfort, great gauge cluster, great non shattered screen, east to navigate, real wood, real leather, when you turn on dry pavement it doesn’t bind or jump, when you accelerate uphill it is SOOOOOOO SMOOOTH. “O” we also stopped by the Cadillac dealer, they had two CUR screens shatter on the lot last week. SO SAD. By now
Long, long, long time EXCLUSIVE GM BUYER here. Never owned a Ford, FCA, or Japan/Korean vehicle. Currently own, 70 1/2 Camaro, 84 Fiero, 87 Trans Am, 10 Equinox, 12 GMC Sierra ……. along with VW Diesel …… and I must admit, the VW is better build in my opinion, and cost much less to maintain. ……. my point is GM WAKE-UP, PLEASE, PLEASE. I am ready for a new “ride” and am considering a European vehicle, SADLY, VERY SAD TO SAY. …….. I read this forum to “” LEARN”, ….. NOT complain. Maybe GM Execs ‘watch’ this and can learn as well. HOPEFULLY, ……. thanks, Gene Henry.
Added comment to my post. ALL the GM vehicles have performed well; in fact, the current 10 Equinox and 12 GMC Sierra have performed flawless with no problems (as has the VW), BUT, as I search features, build quality, material use, tolerances, and styling the European choices, in general, seem to be a weeeeee bit better (OPINION). I just want to be sure all know that my GM units work well after many, many miles of use. …… THANKS, …. Gene
