While General Motors gives its bread-and-butter crossovers a price cut at Chevrolet, Buick and GMC, Cadillac’s XT5 will cost a little more for 2019.
The 2019 Cadillac XT5 will see a price hike up to $2,500 in range-topping Platinum guise, according to a CarsDirect report last Friday. The price bumps follow other trims, too: the starting price jumps from $41,590 to $42,690 (a $1,100 increase), Luxury trimmed XT5s now start at $49,490, up from $47,590 (a $1,900 increase) and the Premium Luxury model will cost $55,190, up from $54,090 (a $1,100 increase).
The price hikes do include extra standard equipment, however. The Luxury trim now boasts the Driver Awareness Package as standard, which nets low-speed auto emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance and more. The Platinum trim also gains more active safety technology with the Drive Assist package now standard. The package includes front and reverse auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, auto parking assist and more.
Close analysis of the price increases may point to more separation from the 2019 Cadillac XT4. Before the updated pricing, the most-expensive XT4 cost $1,200 more than the least expensive XT5. Now, the same XT4 will cost $100 more with the XT5’s price hikes.
Comments
I am looking at a 2019 Cadillac XT5 and I’m more concerned with the fit and finish then the price. If GM cannot improve
on it, then I will buy a Mercedes or BMW.
We drove an XT5 but ultimately bought an XC90. The XT5 a fantastic vehicle, but IMO with the arrival of the XT4, they should ditch the lower end model altogether.
They will more than likely on the ’20 refresh with “Y Trim” strategy which now starts at “Luxury” instead of “XT5/Base”. What will be more interesting is what is going to be included and not included with “Luxury” trim and the starting price.
