It’s not an easy task to seek out a low-mileage, well taken care of Chevrolet Tahoe from the 1990s. That makes this 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe a rarity in itself. But, the owner as gone and made it something even grander: there’s a 6.2-liter LS9 supercharged V8 engine under the hood.
Yes, that LS9 V8 engine. The same one that powers the C6 Corvette ZR1 and produces 638 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque. And, the SUV seeks a new home as it’s listed for auction on Bring A Trailer.
According to the listing, the current owner purchased the 1998 Tahoe with just 33,000 miles on the odometer and then decided to swap in the LS9 V8 engine. A Chevrolet dealer performed all of the engine work, and the owner upgraded numerous other mechanicals to handle the supercharged V8.
With the Corvette-sourced heart comes a dry sump oiling system and is equipped with a Lingenfelter pulley and ECU kit, custom headers, and a full-flow exhaust system. The current owner also selected a GM performance front axle with 3.73 gears and bearings, opted to strengthen the 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission and chose a custom Dana 60 rear end with a Detroit Locker rear differential.
Aside from the rather incredible performance modifications, the Tahoe is incredibly clean inside and out. Those looking for a sleeper SUV have two days left to bid.
