We’re suckers for obscure performance builds. This Opel Kadett ticks all of those boxes. The Kadett was always a rather mundane Opel vehicle built until 1991, but one owner has turned mundane into monstrous.
This particular Opel Kadett is making, wait for it, 1,250 horsepower. Spotted at RACE1000, the Kadett competed in the event to see just how fast it could go down a half-mile runway. The little Opel that could managed to clock a 195 mph top speed.
Power comes from a thoroughly reworked 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, though we don’t have specifics on the build itself. We see the car is running a rather meaty set of tires to handle all of the power, however. The interior is also stripped down in the name of weight savings.
