Yenko Camaro Continuation Cars Coming This Year

The true “Yenko” parted ways with this world decades ago, but that hasn’t meant a lack of Yenko products. However, Brand New Muscle Car and General Marketing Capital, which owns the rights to the licensing rights to Yenko, plans for something really special.

To mark 50 years of Yenko Camaros, BNMC plans for a limited run of continuation cars. That’s right, brand-new 1968 Yenko Camaros built in 2018. The Camaros will be custom built and officially licensed Yenko Camaros. They will also be added to the Official Yenko Worldwide Registry for authenticity.

BNMC didn’t provide specific details on what the continuation Yenko Camaros will feature, but we can expect a 450-horsepower L72 427 ci big-block V8 engine—the calling card for Yenko Camaros. Originally, engine displacement was limited to 396 ci, which made the Yenko Camaro a true performance star in its day. In total, just 64 Yenko Camaros were built and sold in 1968. Final productions numbers sit in the hundreds

It’s unclear how many Camaros BNMC will build, but we have a feeling the supply will be short, and the demand quite high.

  1. All the more reason to use the 1969 Camaro color choices from the factory. Hugger Orange and Rally Green, etc.

    1. Yup. As long as as it abide with federal laws they can build them.

  3. Honestly i would love to see GM do some really cool things like bring back 7.0l (427CI) COPO & Yenko Camaros, the ZL1, a Z/28, an SS 5.3L (327ci) and an SS 6.5L (396) Camaro. I would also love to see the Malibu switch to the Alpha-2 platform and have a Chevelle SS variant with a 6.5L (396ci) V8 and a 5.3L (327ci), 10-speed auto, 1LE suspension and all of those kinds of things along with a SS-Trim Silverado 1500. Another thing would be to drop Buick and revise Pontiac and really make them the Performance lineup. To have a Firebird with a standard V8 Firebird 5.7L (350), Firebird Formula 400 6.5L (“400”) , Trans Am WS6 with a hotter 6.5L (GMPP heads and cam, cold air intake, mid-length Tri-Y stepped exhaust manifolds with scavenger spikes, a factory Borla dual mode exhaust with additional side exit pipes for a true 3-stage exhaust system, 10-speed automatic w/ 6-speed manual option, a more luxurious interior than the camaro with a different layout, alpine stereo system and laminated glass) & a Turbo Trans Am which would be basically a twin turbocharged version of the LT 4. The Firebird should be the GMC Denali version of the Camaro in every way without all of the chrome, the styling should pay homage to the ’77 Trans Am with LED lighting, shaker hood, rear lip spoiler, etc. Next would be a stretched Alpha-2 GTO 2-door with a regular GTO and a GTO judge model 6.5L & 6.2L S/C Judge. Following that should be an Alpha-2 Grand Prix and a Omega Chassis Bonneville. There also needs to be a Pontiac SUV that would do battle with the SRT Durango & Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Basically, If GM were to do this, it would justify all of Cadillac’s vehicles going to the new DOHC Twin Turbo V8 engines with DCT transmissions because it would make Cadillac a truly Distinguished lineup with new styling and performance and luxury directions above anything else the GM has out. Pontiac would be the GMC-level car division which would justify the V8 only engine options because they would be a premium vehicle above your regular Chevrolet lineup.

  4. I’m not sure but sounds like there building a replica of the 68 Camaro Yenko if so they better change the picture because it’s 69 Camaro there showing. I think it would be great if they used the 69 Camaro instead of the 68. Don’t get me wrong I liked the 68, but prefer the 69, just my opinion.

  5. I am sick and tired of all this overpriced, computerized BS.

Just build a quality classic car, with plenty of HP, and leave out the ABS, AIR BAGS, stupid options that most people don’t want in a MUSCLE CAR, and sell it at a decent price.

  6. Why can’t I buy a ’68-69 Camaro with the following:
    1. 427 V8 with at least 500 HP, maybe more with an aluminum block and heads.
    2. Rack and Pinion Power steering and good brakes, and a stout rear end and tranny.
    3. NO ABS or multiple airbags.
    4. A good “passenger cage and set of seat belts”.
    5. No stupid options like power seats, power windows, power/heated mirrors, AC might be ok though
    6. Improved front/rear lights

  7. > added to the Official Yenko Worldwide Registry

What is this Registry? *If* it exists, it’s new and is not recognized in the hobby.
