If you have a keen interest in cars and a genuine desire to better learn how they operate, the videos of Engineering Explained are an excellent resource. Or maybe you just enjoy listening to random technical jargon. We don’t judge.
In this particular video from the popular channel, we learn how Chevrolet‘s LS3 V8 engine works. The host of Engineering Explained, Jason Fenske, does a great job breaking down the various components of the LS3 and explaining the precise function of each. He’s thorough, too, touching on everything from the 90-degree-V design to the firing order, to the different strokes or stages of an engine’s rotation, to explaining how push rod engines work and how they differ from other engine designs, to… well, you get the point.
Even at just five-and-a-half minutes long, this video lecture is packed full of detailed information. The 3D-printed LS3 V8 engine model allows viewers to see the different parts of the engine and how they interact with one another, which is super helpful for those eager to get a good handle on small-block engine operation.

They need a new version of the old “visible V-8” model.
