Tesla has former General Motors talent onboard. The electric-car maker announced last Friday that James Zhou will become the company’s chief financial officer for its Chinese operations, Reuters reported.
Zhou previously worked for GM in a financial leadership position. He held a similar role at General Electric and at Ingersoll Rand. Tesla also welcomed Neeraj Manrao, a former Apple executive, as director of energy manufacturing.
Tesla has been working quickly to build up its Chinese operation as the country plans to lift the cap on foreign ownership this year for new-energy vehicle companies. Tesla, of course, only sells electric cars. The ownership cap forces major automakers into joint ventures with domestic Chinese automakers. GM works with SAIC and Wuling locally.
The EV company said it plans to announce additional new hires at the company in the near future.
