The 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 is, no doubt, meant to spend its life on the track—whether that’s a circuit or the drag strip. Edmunds realized this, but also made sure to tell us about how the most powerful Corvette ever behaves on public roads, too.
Long story short: the Corvette ZR1 offers an almost unbeatable performance-per-dollar ratio. Our host, Carlos Lago, explains in the video that while the sports car may seem intimidating at first, it’s actually not all so bad. But, the overwhelming character found in the car comes back to the 6.2-liter LT5 supercharged V8 engine.
Instead, the Corvette ZR1 is something a driver can grow into and continue to learn its limits. Though, it’s unlikely any regular driver will ever take the car to its max—unless the owner is a race car driver or something.
On the road, the Corvette ZR1 behaved with wild manners and didn’t thrash around or become unlivable. Instead, it behaved like a more powerful Corvette with similar manners to something lower in the Corvette range’s hierarchy. So, those driving to the track can enjoy a few friendly twisties before heading out onto the circuit.
